What's your current headache?

You are in way too many forums man. Plus you run your own?!? Do we need to stage an intervention?!? 😉

I've only really been active on one of those, and that was several years ago. I think I joined the others over the years just to contact members about items for sale in the classifieds...

I mean come on, you don't think I hang out around here all day do you?

In my single days, I implemented that philosophy but took it to the next level.

20 pairs of EXACTLY the same sock.

I did that. Used to get Kodiak grey sport socks. They were plain, comfortable, and UN-branded.

I could only find them at Costco, so I stocked up — they came in packs of 10 or 20, I don't remember. So I lugged a pack back to HK and let them sit in a drawer until the ones from the first mega-pack started to wear-out, get holes and otherwise be beyond repair.

You know what though? They still needed to be paired! They would fade after several washings to different shades of lighter grey.

Now I've almost worn out the last pack I bought, but they changed them, Kodiak started putting their name on them — N.G.!

During winter I wear wool socks my wife or my mother has knit for me, many are purposely mismatched, but summer they're too hot.

I need to find another source of Kodiak-like socks, plain-janes, grey, simple, nothing fancy...UN-branded.

SMD tweezers are great for positioning tiny components on small boards. They are made for that of course. But you know what they are also great for? Pulling out a tiny plastic gem out of your daughter’s ear after it’s been there for weeks but she didn’t tell you because she thought she would grow up and it would just fall out! Tonight she decided to use a q-tip and pushed it further in which hurt, so she finally told me about it. Those very useful tiny tweezers saved us a trip to the ER (I tried with normal bathroom tweezers first without luck). I guess I will deduct their cost from my taxes as a medical expense, now where’s that receipt... Also now I know that this hobby has many more benefits than I initially thought: tell your partners that building pedals may someday save your child!!!

I've had to remove a dry bean from my sons ear. He's non-verbal so no idea how long it was in there, but judging by the state of panic he was in I'm assuming not very long...

To be honest, I was relieved when I realized it was just a bean.... it looked like the back end of some sort of insect and I'm not sure I would have handled that as calmly. 😬 :ROFLMAO:

I am glad you clarified it was a dry bean, I am not sure if an entire green bean jammed in there would be better or worse....

Ordering components is giving me a serious headache right now.

I spent way too much time today trying to piece together a Mouser order and of course the "job" thing kept getting in the way.

A: The same capacitors are now over 2.25x what they cost just a few months ago… plus tariffs.
B: Some of the parts I need are out of stock with ridiculous lead times.
C: Twice I added things to my cart, only to have them go out of stock before I could check out. There was a decent inventory when I added them.

Same story with Tayda in stock one minute, vanished the next.

I'm not mad at Mouser or Tayda, they’re just trying to survive in an ocean full of sharks, jellyfish and the kind of medical waste that washes up on the Jersey shore.

But I like to complain and want it to be easier again. Can we make ordering components easy again? MOCEA?

I'm in the same boat, I have to make orders from 3 different places for one component each. Except the trim pots I was going to get from tayda may have an issue fitting, so now I'm not sure of anything. Maybe if I think about it long enough I'll come up with another problem, which will reduce my order tally down to 2.

I'm at a point where I want to finish up my remaining inventory and pivot to pcb development over the winter. So there's a bit of a slow down and that isn't helping the mood.

I just realized I need some yellow MXR knobs. Cool, that's 4 different vendors

I woke up in the middle of the night with a cockroach in my ear once. I remember yelling “GET OUT!” I ran to the bathroom, and stuck my ear under the faucet, which worked well. It was hard to go back to sleep that night.

But my headache is that the AC in my wife’s car broke. And then my car broke down right after that. So I can’t leave my wife’s car at the shop because we would have no car. And it’s hot AF out.

I used to be able to live without AC, but neither of us can anymore around here!

Yucky.

Tayda has these

I got an Ibanez CS5 to mod it, I mean I wanted the caesar but the CS5 was cheaper (lol) Now i just want to mod it to be true bypass to do the vibrato mod, I mean it is too easy but I don't want to drill a 3pdt into the enclosure.

Any suggestion?
