What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

BTPA are really great for custom rack panels. I've been using their connectors for years without issue and the team are helpful.
Hell yeah! I bought a little mini-panel thingy with three of those TRS feedthroughs from them a few years ago that's still my 1/4" I/O for my board.

I used Psvane for a while a couple years ago when JJ's became scarce, and the biggest thing that I noticed was that they were consistently below spec on mu. I was getting ECC83's that on paper should have a mu of 100 and were measuring at 80. That difference in gain was very audible to me. Not sure if they've changed their QC since then.
This is why I pay the fre extra bucks, which you really shouldn’t have to do, to have microphonics and high gain tests. I do believe they changed their design and upped quality control as their making most of TAD tubes these days and they’re 12ax7 isn’t skinny and pointy like it used to be. But I only bought 2.

@Asdrael Im surprised you couldn’t hear a difference in the JJECC83-S and Psvane. Was this in V1? Did you try the JJ Long plat ECC803? I like the EHX LPS as well in phase inverter. The amp and tube location makes a big difference as well as I’m sure you already know. I can’t tell one ax7 from another in my old hot rod deluxe.

Power tubes, atleast EL34s, I’m all about some new production lol. Prices are insane for the old ones and I’ve rolled old Mullard xf2’s, RFT’s, etc… and the difference vs new production just wasn’t there for me. For 6V6 I do find the older to be less harsh. You can buy a matched pair of nos/anos 6v6 for just a little more if not the same as new production.

I pay extra for low noise and microphonics when I buy 6SL7 because I've thrown away enough microphonic 6SL7 to make it well worth it, but for 12A*7 family tubes I order so damn many of them and have so few bad ones that I don't think extra testing would be worth it.

When I'm getting small quantities for a special thing for myself I go all out with all the testing and get them burned in as well.

6SL7s were an obsession of mine for a while. A friend of mine had a big stash of NOS ones and let me high grade a few for my own builds. Expensive, but well worth it. My long postponed tube amp is going to use one12SL7, which are still cheap enough for old ones that I just started with half a dozen "NOS" ones for dirt cheap (i.e. mostly ~five bucks or less for 50s and 60s JAN spec) and will go from there as needed.

I may have some 6SL7 you can have if you want them. I have no use for them. I’d have to look to be sure.

Screw tolex. Here's 16kg titanium zinc in 1.1mm sheets to wrap around my combo amp. Way too much, but I need some practice, as I don't know exactly how it behaves; a totally new material for me, which I will approach like a heavy type of aluminum. It looks "colder" (blue-ish) which is why I choose it over aluminium.

Nedzink brand, a company located near my place of birth. The type of large company where everyone who doesn't like going to school after high school ends up at.

Bonus shot of the tarantula I gave my dad as a present. And mom's current plant obsession: carnivorous swamp species

I'm looking forward to seeing how that comes out! I looked into doing a kitchen counter in zinc a while back. It's an interesting material. I hadn't heard of titanium zinc. Extra fancy!

This past weekend I went to my local guitar center in Detroit and got some various stuff after selling some pedals. Got a pedal train nano+, truetone cs-6 pro, a good deal on 12 sets of strings and a new tuner that came in the mail yesterday. I had been using a poly tune 3 the last couple years and hated the tracking on the lower strings. It would cut in and out, bounce around and never felt super accurate. This is a game changer and I look forward to intonating my guitars this weekend. I love that it has a buffer and that it came with custom cut Velcro from peterson. Feels solid, fast and very accurate. 10/10 would recommend. 9345.jpg

Thanks! I am excited as wel!! :D

The titanium (and copper) allows for bending without heat. Without it, zinc is brittle, and, as the guy at the store who informed me, can be torn apart like lead.

I went for natural, but there's plenty of other choices. You see the greys and antracite everywhere these days on buildings as paneling. but I can't say I like the look of those. Just a variation of the fake brick wall panelling. Fast (read: cheap). There's a kind uf uncanny flatness / straightness to those buildings that just make it look cheap. Concrete boxes with some of that proverbial turd-dusting glitter om it.
