Your favorite earplugs?

Whatcha using? I think it might be time to replace the pair I've had for several years now after stumbling upon a second pair that are noticeably deteriorating

fender ‘musician series’ ear plugs.

- cheap but really good.
- better than a few pairs that cost x3 as much when i lost a pair (these expensive bs ones were useless and didn’t cut enough volume and were killing me)
- can adjust how much attenuation you get by how far you shove em in.
- relatively comfy

More details please
My ENT has a crew of audiologists for dealing with hearing aids. They also will make molds for custom earplugs. There is a good number of custom makers out there. I opted for Soundgear with filters for musicians (more of a flat response) that you can just swap and you can also get impulse filters for shooting. They have fancy electronic versions too. Mine are soft silicone and comfy for long periods. I wear the 17dB ones when practicing or at the movies (major tinnitus sucks). The 26dB are good for loud shows.

$175 with discount through the audiologist. 30 day fit replacement and the audiologist made sure they fit correctly. They keep a digital file of the molds at Soundgear for replacements or new pairs.

Etymotics for me. I've started using hearing protection after the AJFA tour in '89, lol. Couldn't hear crap for like a day. I tap out at around 14kHz but that's not so bad for my age, I think.
You’re doing better than me. 8.6k is where I tap out. 25 years of welding, grinding, and running pneumatic tools without hearing protection. Don’t be like me and wear your earplugs kids.

That's a bummer. But, still not so bad if it doesn't worsen.

Tell you what, a few years ago I bought some noise canceling earphones and after a few months I had terrible tinnitus in my right ear (I kept them in while sleeping). I stopped using them and it went away. FWIW.

I’m all in on EarPeace. I have three sets just so I’m never without! Keep one in the center console of my car in case I forget to grab a set on the way to a concert

I have a set of Loop Experience and an Eargasm set. I prefer the Eargasm for sound and overall attenuation, but they can be fiddly to get sealed right. Loops are easier to deal with.

Last year at a show I dropped one of the Eargasm plugs. I found it on the floor after the show, having been underfoot for probably an hour. It cleaned up fine and works fine.

I’ve got a near lifetime supply of these from an old job, so that’s what I use.

Am I missing out not getting fancy music-specific earplugs?

Yes. I still use the foamies in a pinch or when using power equipment. Sometimes I sleep with them in too. But they disproportionately cut high frequencies

I definitely don’t enjoy playing as much with plugs in, so I’d be willing to try something else.

So, what are YOU using for music?

I’m stone deaf without my hearing aids. I really started noticing loss at 35. I’ve since lost most of the rest of it. My right ear is basically useless.

At 42, I'm still good up to 16khz baby!
Always used something/anything as earplugs. Shoving bar napkins in my ears at punk shows and stuff.
Was foamies and hearos for years. Lost the hearos. Got loops, didn't care for them. Never fit. Lost them.
So I guess I'm interested.

Edit: not trying to flaunt
Everything else is falling apart like an old Chevrolet.
