What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

It's got an antibuffer in it : P
There was a thread going around in one of the FB groups about the Klon buffer last week and some hilarity was taking place.....Someone mentioned that the vertex guy said the klon buffer was not great and the internet started arguing... Few big hitters chimed in too.. Josh, Brian, Keeley and Jon had a few words.... Pretty funny there are folks that actually buy into the vertex guy still...

Love, love, love how it turned out. I left off the low E because the trem tail hole was just a little to small for the wrap. I just wanted to take it on the track and shake out the problems out before I put the La Bella flats I bought on. The La Bellas have a little smaller diameter so it should be fine.

Custom Tone Hatch Seattle 93' Bass VI pick up set - exactly what I imagined in my head.
Mastery Bridge and Trem - simply super - very well engineered.
Aluminati Bass VI neck - Holy cow, I am sold on aluminum necks.

It was cold and rainy here yesterday and the wife is sick so I got 3 pedals knocked out in the backlog. Aion Fusion (Suhr Riot), Celeritas (Lightspeed) and Cirrus (Ibanez ST-9). All 3 of these turned out nice and sound good.

This was my first time (as a hobbyist) using Kester 331 solder and rinse/washing for cleaning. It isn't quite as nice as 44/245 as far as solder behavior, but I'll take it for the results and time saved with IPA/remover cleaning.

Shout out to @Audandash for sharing the Aion I/O board gerber - I'm putting that to good use and the PCB makes these builds go quite a bit faster. The JST headers and cables are another part of making these builds less of a burden.

Builds look great. Happy to help with the board.

Spent yesterday/today putting together this Sea Horse/Dark Rift together with Chuck's mods included, but then took over an hour of troubleshooting to realize my dumb ass didn't fuck up on any of the mod component swaps-- it was using a 470k resistor where I should have used 470R 😂😂😂 This circuit sounds magnificent and man, it just goes further. Stoked to box it all up!

Another bike. I got a freshly powdercoated Bianchi Eros frame that I built up as a neo-retro bike. This was my first time dealing with Campagnolo and I understand why they're not doing well as a company. The shifters, despite being 11 speed mechanical did not fit easily on the bars. I ended up grinding some of the body away so the clamps would fit on but then the bar would hit the internal shifting mechanism. I solved it by putting some shims under the shifter body but Shimano and Sram are far less fussy to deal with.

Had this on the workbench today. Warranty return! This Kliche was the 6th pedal I built. It came back to me yesterday because it was intermittently making a weird loud pulsing oscillation with the LED flickering in time.

A charge pump swap seemed to change the frequency a bit but didn’t fix it, so I sent my buddy home with a loaner Kliche and did some forum searching this morning. Robert suggested that someone with a similar issue check the zener next to the charge pump.

This one tested bad, and swapping it seems to have fixed the issue which is great, but I do wonder what would kill one of those. I don't suspect my buddy would have plugged it into any weird power or anything.

Amazing guitar and that neck is temptating. I gave some play time for my 30” scale sixbeast yesterday, but damn that extra string lenght brings latency to palm muted picking. Had to change back to normal scale to get those chugs chugging how I like ’em.

What strings, gauge, tuning?

I’m really liking the La Bella flat wounds aside from the low E. The low E is such a wet noodle. Tempted to just go to five strings.

Winspear and maybe some other too, drop A# with maybe 58-64 on heaviest and so on. Cannot recall exact setup, but pretensioning was done with a string tension calculator and some thought process before install!

That architecture though, wow. Great bike also.

My Je T’aime is almost done. I drilled a couple holes for the pot and foot switch the other day in the enclosure and then had to try to cram everything else in to determine where the rest of the holes should go. I drilled the other holes today and managed to get everything in there.

It works! The tone is clean until it’s not. I like it. I’ll probably just use it as a boost but I like the distortion when it’s dimed.

The LED wasn’t working, but I just resoldered the leads to see if that was the problem. I have some tape on the back of the board so that the leads can’t short on anything there.

I need to grind a little off the back. The jacks are inside the enclosure but the little lip on the back around the edge is hitting the jacks just barely. A couple minutes with the file and that won’t be a problem.

I knew it was going to be tight, but there isn’t spare room for for anything in there.
