Tbh I'm mainly using sockets to help with any troubleshooting issues (including IC's installed the wrong way around). That's pretty much the only reason I even use sockets in the first place - troubleshooting pedals with sockets is so much easier than ones without sockets. And all you’re doing is having the option to reuse a TL072..
Well you gotta replace the fakesAnd all you’re doing is having the option to reuse a TL072..
I’ve never tried pre-bending them.Bending the legs is not rocket science
So no foreplay, just going in dry huh?I’ve never tried pre-bending them.
I just drop one row into the socket then nudge the second row into place with my thumb.
I’m gentleSo no foreplay, just going in dry huh?
Sounds like some psychotic serial killer stuff![]()
All this talk about being gentle and hole coring remind me of the rectal speculums that occasionally ended up in my hands at the hospital's surgical cleaning / sterilisation departement...Judging from the guys in this group I'm considering you all " Raw Doggers"... Ain't no Easin' in around here.
They are splayed that way to allow the spring tension to hold them in place before soldering. Mostly for benefiting automatic processes. Most ICs globally are not socketed.I have what may be a dumb question - why do they manufacture the ICs so that the legs are not in the correct angle to insert into the sockets? Why not make them so they line up with the socket holes?
