What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

Trying to do some tidying up to make her roadworthy. It’s all little piddly stuff but important. I scored a rear view mirror on eBay and installed it today. I have hardware coming to install the old door panels until I pull the trigger one new ones (expensive). I’m gonna get some new tires to throw on it just to drive around on until I settle on new wheels and tires. Seat covers are on the agenda too. In case you’re curious it’s a 75. All new crate motor and transmission. She runs like a champ she just needs finishing. My dad is getting older and said he doesn’t have time or really care about finishing it anymore so he went ahead and gave it to me. I fixed the hood the other day so it latches. Like I said, little stuff.

My mother had a 68' convertible for the better part of 40 years same color... I have worked on that car hundreds and hundreds of hours over the years. I few years ago I was keeping it at my house in Georgia while they had some home reno done for months. After almost a year they sent me the title and said to keep it..lol. I cruised around here and there for a couple years and decided it's not an aircooled Volkswagen and told my Mom she could have it back. They wanted me to sell it and split the $$... I'm just outside Atlanta and the guy who ended up buying the car turned out to live 5 miles from my parents south of Birmingham, Al... lol They see him all the time driving.

Working on this standard crybaby. I've tried a lot of different range caps since last week. Wired up this final set. I don't know how anyone wants more treble content than the stock 10n cap offers. I have it set to gradually shift the center frequency lower as the range switch is turned. I have it going from 10n to around 39n in gradual steps. Also put in an arteffects stack of dimes inductor. This is the year of the wah.

Back to the new tube bass amp this morning. Finally realized I'd made the same lame ass mistake wiring it up that I did the last time I used a set of these preamp PCBs, back in 2015. But it somehow still sounded good at low to moderate volume this time, even though I knew my measurements didn't agree with my Spice model well at all. Plugging my reference SS preamp into the power amp section yesterday told me I had to dig deeper, which fortunately didn't take too long. Threw my mistakes into LTspice and it all became perfectly clear. Really looking forward to an extra 18dB of clean (until it isn't) gain. :ROFLMAO:

I worked on one of these years ago and loved the sound so I had been on the lookout for a deal on one ever since, and it was finally in the cards. The main thing I don't love though was their choice to do a mirror chrome front panel, I've always thought it looked kind of tacky. So I sanded it until it was nice and matte and UV printed the logo back on. Also decided the VU meter needed a pink backlight instead of the boring white one.

@Robert, In this post, you mention the Bigger Muff motorboating and self oscillating. I'm not getting any of that on my build- it just sounds like a regular ol' Muff. So, I'm wondering if I need to build a a fetzer valve or Fumble or something, and if so does it feed or is it fed from the Muff?
