Fellow nerds. Is it ok to use a single 16 pin IC socket across two adjacent 8 pin "banks" as long as I am sure to slot the TL072 and the TC1044SCPA IC's in the correct notch orientation?
Do you mean a single 16-pin dip socket for two adjacent dip-8 packages? In that case, yes, that’s totally fine. Just be sure to install the ICs properly.

Whoops. Yes. I meant 16 pin, I edited. And yes I would like to use a single 16 pin socket in the pic across the 2x 8 pin IC areas for a cleaner look. Glad to know this is legal.
If you've ever cut up a bunch of sockets you'll see that each one is a single metal socket and they are not connected to each other at all. On the build I'm doing now I'm socketing 4 diodes that are next to each other with 4 piece sockets. Very handy
