Small Bear shutting down

I made what was probably my last order the other day ... I actually struggled to put together a $20 order because I'd been building out all my vintage fuzzes this year and wasn't really in the market for any more hard to find parts and what I do need wasn't going to come from there anyways ... went ahead and grabbed a few 2SC945, a few TFK BC108B, an Octavia transformer, and some 1N270 just to have on hand.

Put in my last order today, but I will keep my eye out over the coming months and maybe place another. I have a modest parts stash at the moment; no germanium or FETs or crazy mojo. I changed that with this order.

Also, an exciting update: I have archived all germanium transistor and diodes from the site on a Google Sheet. It includes the part number, datasheet link where applicable (WIP), a link to the listing on Small Bear, and the original description. If anyone has any idea on the best way to share this, please let me know. I know sharing Google Sheet links can be annoying if people try to access it with a Gmail account that has a different domain, it will deny them access and send me an email. I could put it on a burner account of sorts. Eventually I'd like the link to be pasted somewhere because I don't want send it manually too much. Here's a preview:

I intend to do Silicon stuff too, as I noticed some interesting things when I put my order together.

Good lord thanks a million for doing that

I could add it to the wiki.

That would be amazing! Thank you.

I have an edu gmail and a regular one where the spreadsheet is so I will test how permissions work.

After that I’ll pm you a link and info about how permissions work as a disclaimer, if that works for you.

My final small bear order came in about an hour ago. Pretty sad to say goodbye, but maybe I don’t have to just yet since a few parts were missing lol. This stuff happens sometimes so it’s no big deal, and I’m sure Steve will get it sorted out (hoping they aren’t sold out of those parts by now) so I’m not bothered about it at all. I guess it just means that I’ll get to open my “very last package from small bear” a third time 😂

I'd really hate to be in charge of packing / shipping orders over there right now.

I bet they are swamped.
No doubt about it. Considering how many orders they’ve got coming in vs how they’ve managed to maintain a roughly 1-week turnaround, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re putting out more than a few hundred packages each week

Has anybody ordered any of the smallbear grab boxes? $40 of mystery parts and components… I can’t resist!
