Seabed Delay/First laser engraved enclosure

just that I know I'm not having to run it really slow and the laser on max power to do the job... now i'm running 60% power and faster cut time
Thanks. Man in debating lol

Going to abuse the bezos return policy and try the 10w one

That looks sick! Really liking the art and layout on it. Plus, we’re surf green ocean theme’d laser etched enclosure twins!

Looking at yours though, I am not sure if it is your settings or the more powerful laser, but your edges look cleaner and slightly better defined. Kudos sir.

Not bad!

I've found that multiple passes+high power+high speed tends to cut directly through the powder coat pretty easily. Gets down to the bare aluminum with a minimum of charring.

Slower speeds burn the powder coat to the aluminum pretty well and make for a darker etch.

The former works better for dark enclosures, the latter for light enclosures.

10 watts will do the trick. It'll just take twice as long.

I have a cheapo Neje diode laser from 5 years ago that somehow still works, on lighter enclosures I do one slow pass at 100% and it's enough to mark the paint which is all I really need. Black ones need to be stripped to the enclosure surface and that's a bit more finicky, and takes a lot of Zep 505 haha 🫠. It's all experimentation and keeping notes (don't forget to keep notes of all variables)
