Mouser sells Rubycon electros that are 5mm high IIRC. Plenty of 7mm ones too in normal times, but my usual go-tos have been out of stock for at least a year.Working on getting parts together for Round Two of ElectroVibe Mini/Monk Vibe Prototyping and I’m struggling to get 10u, 47u and 100u low profile caps.
1u in tantalum and 2.2u in tantalum I can get from Tayda and they are short enough.
Any good sources?
Did you even check mouser?

Smallbear has them.
The Rubycons showed as being in stock a few minutes ago.I did! The filtering didn’t seem to return any 5mm/7mm height caps in stock that I needed.
Maybe I need to check again.
I think this is the issue I’m running into.

The 10uf are actually 50v if you look at the options, but yeah, unfortunately the others are only 16.
What values are you looking for? I can give you part numbers off my labels

100u

I'm not saying these are in stock, just that's what I've ordered there in the past
It’s not uncommon for dimensions to get swapped around or omitted in the Mouser and Digikey search engines, IME. It sometimes helps when you already have the part numbers, for sure.Shame, shame!
Ask @Harry Klippton and he’ll tell you I’m a seasoned component hunter. I must have selected the incorrect parameter for height.
I'm trying to find the right low-profile electrolytics too. I need to shave down every millimeter I can, especially with stripboard/perf builds. @Passinwind you're correct about the dimensions being unreliable in listings... ugh
@Harry Klippton the ones you posted look to be Lelon - I've always stuck with Nichicon or Rubycon, but I assume Lelon is quality too. @Big Monk did you wind up with those?
220uF seems a little tough to find. These are tagged as "miniature sized", and the pic does look a little stubbier than usual but I can't tell! https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/647-UPW1V221MPD
Looking for everything from 1uf through 330uf, essentially. That earlier post is a good start, Harry - thanks!
Thank you, that is VERY helpful. It gets a little confusing, especially at Mouser... 5-7mm height sounds perfect. I had a feeling "miniature sized" meant squat!Disregard the product pics on Mouser, they may not be representative of the actual product. Just read the datasheets. It says 10mm diameter, 12.5mm length for that 220uF. That's hardly miniature sized.
Here's a search for any electros up to 7mm in length and rated 16V and up: https://www.mouser.com/c/passive-components/capacitors/aluminum-electrolytic-capacitors/aluminum-electrolytic-capacitors-radial-leaded/?length=5 mm~~7.5 mm&voltage rating dc=16 VDC~~350 VDC&instock=y&normallystocked=y&rp=passive-components/capacitors/aluminum-electrolytic-capacitors/aluminum-electrolytic-capacitors-radial-leaded|~Voltage Rating DC|~Length
If you can't find what you're looking for you can also just hit up Mouser customer support directly. They may be able to hit you up with a list of products meeting your requirements.
It may be difficult to find something that large in a low profile (<7mm height) at the voltages you need. I can think of a couple alternatives. You could run two 100µF caps in parallel to achieve 200µF (seems close enough) or you could find a 5mm-6.3mm diameter 220uF capacitor and lay it on its side rather than standing up (if you absolutely have to have 220uF).Also - looks like 220uf low-profile isn't a thing, huh?
When I'm buying caps I usually filter by whatever voltage rating and capacitance I need and then compare ESR, maximum ripple current and life expectancy specs of different manufacturers and series. I'll buy whoever got the "best" specs, i. e. low ESR, high max ripple current, decent life span, which often leads to the usual recommended brands. This may be overkill for our purposes but I like the peace of mind. I'm not familiar with CDE/Illinois Capacitor but I probably would not buy those simply because the specs don't look good comparatively. I'm seeing a lot of Panasonics in that list, most of those will probably be absolutely fine. I've also bought Kemet and Kyocera AVX electrolytics in the past when the specs were right and haven't had any issues with those.Thank you, that is VERY helpful. There are times when I consider 16v elcaps, but I know the rule is "2x 9v" minimum just in case. These are all 9v fuzz pedals, and I use batteries for cryin out loud - should be fine. Still, I try to stick with 25 or 35v.
If you were buying these, which would you go with, @lowpitch? Brand-wise, I see some of the reliable "-cons" here, but also ones like Illinois that I've heard to stay away from.
Also - looks like 220uf low-profile isn't a thing, huh?
