COMPLETE 29 Pedals JFET

You'll love JPTR FX.
*so* much love. They're right up there with the dude who wraps his Fuzz Face PCBs in wallpaper and charges like $400.

(Actually I half-take that back - JPTR FX's circuit designs are at least interesting and their designer clearly has a strong point-of-view in his circuit designs and occasionally has some genuinely novel ideas. The oversized cases are mostly annoying but at least they're not charging you more money for their oversized design choices; in general their shit's priced in line with their competition.

Can't say that about 29 Pedals.

Also they at least seem to be moving past their "needlessly big pedals" phase and moving their designs towards 125Bs like the Silvermachine V2, and since the Warlow is SMD now I bet a future version of it will be 125B too.)

I mean regardless of the target audience, $270 is too much for basically anything he’s selling.

If like Wampler made a JFET boost with a charge pump in a 125B, it’d probably be like $100-$150 and I’d call that a fair price to pay, knowing what I know about what it costs to build these things in a reasonable manner to a high standard and still make a living.

This dude artificially inflates the values of his BoM with useless power supplies and oversized enclosures to make his pedals appear to be more than they are.

And I find that distasteful.

You talk a lot of shit for a guy who wants to make a clone of the guy’s pedal.

What happened with Chase Tone? His website is obnoxious, but his prices are reasonable.

Says it uses 150mA for a JFET boost? I'm interested in the power supply conversion thing though. Sounds neat.

His website is obnoxious and he uses the term Magic as an adjective to describe his pedals.

But you are 1000% correct, his prices are insane. I don’t know how he makes any money.

Hey my pedals are magic too. I haven't used my Guvnor in weeks and went I plugged it in last night it was magically silent. It was the biggest noise reduction I've ever accomplished with a circuit, without even trying even, but it also didn't make any sound at all.

I'm mostly kidding.

I've softened on his stuff for a few reasons:

1.) I'm a Vendor on TGP and I got a week's vacation from the site last time I made even an innocuous remark about his recent graphics on one of his Fuzz Fellas. And for good reason. I was not used to the "blue badge" yet and you shouldn't slag your competitors.

2.) His prices are insane and he's certainly not using his creative writing skills to fleece his customers.
