In a feat of utter amazement, I did the same fucking thing last night!! (Granted, I was a bit stoned…) today I replaced the charge pump, only, and it’s working as expected. The thing is, I feel that I need to really change the look of the pedal, adding a giant “9 v DC” to the front, maybe in neon yellow. But I really like the look of this pedal, especially with the knob my dumpster diving friend found for me. After the first screw up, I did engrave “9v only” on the end where the plug ins are, but I now realize that I don’t really look there.View attachment 108801
Is that thing Bakelite?? Very, very cool knob (man that sounds dirty..)Isn’t it? When my friend asked if I was interested, I told him that any and every knob he finds, I get first dibs on. The best part, is that in going all the way to 12, it has even more gain than before!!
I *may* have used that same line of reasoning once or thrice in my day..In a feat of utter amazement, I did the same fucking thing last night!! Yes. It’s cracked, and has a section that sticks out slightly, but as anal as I am, it still doesn’t bother me. It had a bolt in it (to tighten onto the shaft) with a square head, which I cut off and slotted the threaded stub to use. I’m very curious about what it was originally on.Is that thing Bakelite?? I reversed the board/jack wires on a GuitarPCB Snow White AW variant.. now that shit was noisy in bypassTo make you feel better, I couldn’t get the series/parallel switch I had working (I needed to clean up the wiring in that pedal), so I pulled it. Wired up new switches. Red Llama side kept oscillating. I kept getting mad. Stupid me forgot to ground the circuit to the switch and jack.
There. Feel better about blowing up an LED
Is that a hypodermic needle?Perfect timing for this thread to pop up.
Today did not rise to the level of headache, just boneheadedness. After getting a little free time to jump into building the Amethyst version of the Boss DM-2 delay, I found myself having to remove not 1, not 2, no 20x 1K resistors that I managed to install before realizing they are supposed to be 10K. Argh.
If practice makes perfect, my skill at using an 18g needle to clear PCB holes has been drastically improved this evening.
Not my day. I stopped soldering after this and just went and noodled around with synths instead.

It is, indeed, an 18g hypodermic needle. I have a lot of leftovers from when we were doing subcutaneous fluids for our cat. This is about right for typical PPCB and AionFX through holes. I have some 22's when I need smaller. Is that a hypodermic needle?
I worked in a needle factory for a couple years and I used to get stabbed by those stupid things all the time. 18s are brutal.
I bet that works great. Careful though- I bet it also works great for delivering subcutaneous lead.It is, indeed, an 18g hypodermic needle.
