Bring out yer Diptrace

If you're willing to share (and I understand if you aren't), are you also isolating the copper pour on the back of the board like you did on the front? How did you handle joining the ground and power planes?

Oh absolutely, there's no top secret proprietary information here.

The ground plane is split on the back similar to the front, except the split doesn't go all the way to the edge on one side so it creates a thin trace running up to the top of the PCB.

The Double Pendulum is isolated as well but instead of splitting the PCB in half I just fenced off the LFO section, including the blinking indicator LEDs.

Just wanted to reiterate my endless gratitude for all of this thread especially with these most recent examples of ground plane splitting @Robert ,which is something I’ve been meaning to learn. This thread is exactly what I wish I had found when looking for RG Keen’s out of print pedal pcb layout book years ago and is the only reason I’ve been able to make the dumb amount of pcbs I’ve made.

Agreed. I also appreciate that this is a learning community and people share what they've learned with others.

I've gone from sweating profusely while fumbling my way through soldering my very first LGSM to whipping up my own PCBs, and that doesn't happen without the kindness of people on here. 🙏

Just a (really) quick and rough fit to make sure everything can fit before trying to actually make it fit.
Looks like you're planning a control layout similar to your Kliché Mini/NOTAKLICHÉ boards. It looks to be something different though (I only see one TL072). Either way, there are a lot of components there, it's going to be "fun" routing that one.

Man I'm just going to hit auto-route and close my eyes....

... If only it were that easy. 😭

Yep, the NOTAKLICHÉ layout was a perfect fit for this one.

Well, to me it looks like a box of melted Crayons with all the colours blending together.
Put me down for one, too.

Hmm, maybe we should refer to it from this point forward as the Pastel Preamp?... just to be on the safe side.

Nice guess by the way.

'Twas NO guess...

'Twere an EDJAMACATED guess... 😜

I knew I'd seen that Kliché-like layout with a switch somewheres, and I did hunt it down methodically, like it were a hidden solder-bridge under an IC socket ... I perused the "IN PROGRESS" Wish-List entries ... and there it were... the Pastel Pre preening away with its panties down...
