Caesar Chorus

Tonight’s project - boxed and wired a Caesar chorus. No sound at first, then I went back and put the transistors in! Now it works! Haven’t spent much time with it yet, but it sounds pretty lush. Whatever the wave form toggle is doing is subtle, but I think it’ll be a fun one.

Thanks! My lettering system is a little goofy, but it’s working. I’m using a fine Posca marker and a rigged up vintage Leroy lettering set people used to use for lettering on hand drafted drawings.

The enclosures get clamped to a jig table and I set up a drafting arm so it’s square to the table and riding at enclosure height to line up the templates. I usually write each word out on masking tape first so I can work out the word-widths for centering them under the knobs.

I got a whole batch lettered and clear coated on Monday.

Now that is cool. I've considered trying an AxiDraw (or similar) with paint pens for simple prototype artwork.

Thanks! I spent some time trying to rig up something similar with a Posca mounted to a 3D printer head, but I hit some roadblocks with that set up and rigged up the Leroy to get things moving. I may revisit the plotter route at some point. The AxiDraw looks like a great option.

That is slick as grits!

I saw a Franlab where she showed off a similar lettering set. I thought it would be cool on an enclosure at the time. Turns out I was correct, very nice.

This is so cool! I saw someone use something similar on reddit. I tried finding one myself, but I'm not sure what to call it. I tried lettering set, but that just gives me a bunch of letters and not the drawing apparatus.

Thanks! K&E (Keuffel and Esser) is the manufacturer of mine. Leroy is the model/ name of their lettering system if you're searching. I don't expect that they still make them as it's pretty obsolete tech in terms of the drafting world, but they can be got pretty cheap on ebay as they're not in high demand. I bought a big box of drafting stuff at a yard sale years ago, and it had some lettering stuff in it. If I keep using it, I might search out some more templates with different fonts at some point.

I think the stock kits usually come with a funky little gravity-fed ink pen with an ink pot sitting on top - That's what Fran was using in the youtube video @Mentaltossflycoon was talking about. The pen holder is an accessory. Not sure how easy those are to find, but that's key for the way I'm using it.

The Posca pens flow nice and look great, but the adhesion is pretty bad. Some kind of clear coat to lock it in is a must.
