I think I had this in the old wishlist, but I forgot to bring it back, so here it is. It doesn't seem to matter too much now, but I finally looked up the trace I did a few years ago since it was asked for again yesterday.....then I come here and the board is already finished!! The schematic I made from my trace a few years ago does match the one linked to on FSB though, which is an independent confirmation.

Any reasonable substitutes for the 1T308a?
Or should I hit ebay and pay to have a couple shipped from Bulgaria?
 
I don't know how well it would work, but since the Special Porpoise is a modified Antithesis it might be worth trying the alternate silicon BOM since that one can be built with a 2N3906.

It’s a low gain, low leakage PNP germanium transistor. Lots of other devices would work fine here, no need to go hunting for unobtainium. And are you in the US?

(For what it’s worth, 1T308A is the military grade version of GT308A, so the two are completely interchangeable for our purposes.)

Yes, I am in the U.S. Thanks for the tip about the GT308A. I'll lookout for that one as well.

The specs on Aion's version of the Karma Suture say the one they traced was 33hFE and 0 leakage.
I wonder if that super low gain is responsible for the special porpoise's oscillation effects (?)

The lowest gain I've ever measured on a silicon transistor was around 110 hFE.
I'll try to get a Russian NOS and see if it makes a difference.

If you're not in a hurry, Ill ship you a couple of transistors. I'm away for work for 2 weeks though

I have a ton of PNP rusky germs in that gain range. I'll send a couple that are higher too if you want to audition. PM me if you can wait. And PM me again at the end of the month cause I'll probably forget.
