Cleaver Boost Muffled

Just built this cleaver boost and the sound is muffled, like a tone knob is rolled all the way down. Not sure what I did wrong...

Silly question, but did you bias Q1 and Q2 according to the docs?

I don't know what it's supposed to be, no build docs are available yet...

Looks pretty decent... how did you adjust your trimmers? by ear or by meter?

I believe it’s half supply on this one. Since you’re boosting voltage to~18v with this one, try biasing to 9v and see if it opens things up.

Where did you get the transistors?

Have you verified that all other passives are their correct values?
