Diocast voltage switch issue

Hi all.
Just finished my first Duocast build. I’ve built other versions of the Brdcst Dl in the past, but those were hardwired to 27v.
I have an issue when switching from 27v down to 9v - there’s half a second of silence, followed by a second of glitchy fizz, then all is ok.
Is this normal for the LT1054 pump? Would bypassing the Zener improve things?

This is normal behavior for the switch. It takes a moment for the circuit to rebias.
