Duke of Tone - I guess it's official

I’ve never understood the appeal personally so maybe if it’s more massed produced I’ll have to hear about it less 🤣

I just said MXR because of the context of the thread.

I'd imagine most boutique builders would be more than happy to work with Boss, MXR, DOD, TC, EHX, etc....

I doubt anyone... would have a problem working with a big corporation given the opportunity. I mean why not?

Try working for a big corporation and you'll find out.

Oh I've had my share of that fun..... but if you're building pedals for profit it'd be silly to pass on that sort of opportunity.

I've had my share of that fun too... :ROFLMAO:

Besides, I doubt Mike (or any of the other boutiquers in these arrangements) is driving in for a 9 to 5, sitting through the morning meetings, or even wielding a soldering iron on the MXR production line. I suspect they paid for the rights to the name. They didn't need the schematic, or the expertise... all they needed was the hype.

I used to get braised hare at a Moroccan spot where you sit on pillows on the floor and they wash your hands with rose water. Pretty delicious. Wouldn't say it tasted like chicken but it had enough complexity going on that I couldn't say if it tasted like hare either.
That's what my Moroccan friend feeds his dog, hare. You're having hare of the dog...

Not to spit hares, but...
Hare we go again...
...another Hare-raising experience.
Not tonight, deer, I have to wash my hare.
Hare today, game tomorrow.
TFW, you have a hare in your mouth.
Wooden eye wooden eye! Hare lip, hare lip! — well, just a little, on the upper corner, yup, nope, okay it's gone...

@Feral Feline, I stand by my opinion but meant no offense!
None taken!

Beauty is in the file of the font-folder...

Once the 1N4148 goes EoL, there’ll be a crap ton of magic pedals around.
For symmetrical clipping I like to have 1N914 going one way and 1N4148 going the other way, but you've got me worried that either or both might go EoL I dread the day of spending $5 for a matched pair of 1N4148s

"Duke of Tone"? To quote Gene hackman in Unforgiven: "I says duck."

I've never understood the hype around this series of pedals. The KoT sounds ok but there are better modded Bluesbreakers around IMO. The KoT is a decent OD which lacks any low-end. It's ok, decent, alright... But it has never been amazing to me.

Couldn’t agree more. Granted anything with less fuzz than a hyper fuzz sounds too clean to me, but still

It’s a good thing for the general guitar public.

Whether it’s a magic pedal or not, I like it but it can easily be replaced by many others.

In general, we could lose 95% of dirty pedals and still be able to do all the magic sounds we make.
