EHX Lumberjack

Cool EHX box that’s been discontinued for a few years. More than anything I’m just curious if it’s a clone of something since everything else from that series (east river, glove, crayon, soul food, etc) are clones, but nobody’s ever been able to figure out what this one may be based around. Can be found dirt cheep, but still seems like it would be a fun one to build instead of buying.

I was disappointed with that one. I hadn't watched any demos or anything prior to trying one, and the name Lumberjack put the image of TAD in my head. So, I was expecting something heavy, grinding, and grungy. Kinda just sounded like a brighter, weaker tube screamer.
I understand that's all on me, but boy do I hate Tube Screamers :ROFLMAO:

Just got it in the mail. Playing around during my lunch break - early opinion is it sounds really cool. I haven’t cracked it open yet, but it reminds me a bit of an old Yamaha CMOS overdrive I have. The log factor control is interesting. Sounds like it’s a bias control by another name … really digging this so far.

Mildly ironic that the “log factor” uses a linear pot. Insteresting that it’s labeled as “compression” on the board.

Upper right hand of the board seems to be all just associated with the charge pump.
elsewhere we have 3 dual op amps, a single diode that’s waaaaay far from the power stuff, two transistors, and an adjustable vreg. Not thinking of any “classics” this might be, which is definitely interesting since the rest of the little box XO pedals released in the vicinity of this unit were all clones of popular drives

Logjammin, according to IMDB, co-stars Aisha Karrerrah...

"TREEHORN" could be another possible name...

Too bad I've already got plans for a pedal with the name: "The Log-driver's Waltz"...
