Farty Mids

Hmmm. Yeah. Sounds like poo.

I'd kinda sounds like upper mids to my ears. I'd try to cut a bit anywhere from 1k-2.5k. See if that helps.

@Stickman393 yeah man, I really does. The EQ is not the problem, it's something with the amp. I have an EQ pedal and have put that in the loop and in front of the amp, makes no difference.

Does it sound bad on the clean channel?
Does it sound any better on input 2(not sure which model HRD you have)?

Sounds bad on both channels and inputs. The cleans on this amp sound absolutely incredible, it's why I'm trying to save it. Once I add distortion, everything goes to shit.

What about adding a clean boost? Start to fart out then?
If so, using clean channel, swap V1 V2 and V3, rotating tubes into V1 particularly.
See if one config sounds worse.
IIRC(big if!) V2 and V3 are bypassed on the clean channel.
I can't remember if it was the Deluxe of DeVille but didn't one run the preamps tubes around 400v, consistently eating tubes?
Did you check preamp tube voltages after modding?

I think it’s an amp or speaker problem. It almost sounds like a ripped cone. Probably isn’t even a possibility, but that’s what it sounds like:

It's not the tubes themselves, I've rolled everything through every spot, AX7,AT7,AU7, etc.

Does not fart out with a clean boost. Using the MXR Micro Amp after the PPCB Scenario. It's also not the pedals, I've tried every combination. It's 100% something with the amp. So sad......all I want to do is play rock n' roll.

I can check the cone, but I'm not confident that's it. Both speakers had the same problem.

If I skip the preamp and plug into the Power Amp In, it sounds like shit still.

It weird how it sounds incredible clean, I add distortion and the amp farts out.

I'd be inclined to split the signal up
Preamp out into another Poweramp
Another preamp into HRD Poweramp
HRD Poweramp into a closed or different cabinet.
Isolate the flatulence to a smaller area.
I'd check and make sure no tubes are microphonic as well. Give each on the old chopstick tap.
Is there any chance the new speaker has a longer excursion and is hitting the grill cloth?

I need to check the pin voltages on the tubes. Is there a reference sheet with the voltages I can go by? Is the amp powered on or in standby when I check the voltages. Do I need to drain the caps before I do this?

I'm using 12ax7 and 6L6GC
