How do you manage your parts inventory?

That’s perfect. Wish I had a dedicated space for electronics. The third bay of my garage is my wood shop and workshop, and it’s not so conducive to pedal building, especially in the winter.

I went from random bags inside of bags inside of boxes to at least this today. At least everything has its space and is somewhat organized.

I started off small in the garage but it was just too cold in the winter!! So moved myself down to a quiet corner in the basement. Perfect really and out of the way.
As long as you’re organized that’s a great start.
I do a lot when I’m traveling so worked out you can do a lot in a small space with a small amount of kit.

My bench is a “work in a progress”. I have one of those drawer things posted above coming today actually Amazon had a good price I thought. Akro-Mils 10144, 44 Drawer Plastic Parts Storage Hardware and Craft Cabinet, 20-Inch W x 6.37-Inch D x 15.81-Inch H, Black https://a.co/d/dhOa0XC for hardware and ic’s transistors. View attachment 39223This I find works awesome for resistors and caps though. I have one binder with resistors and diodes and another with caps. Some values like 10k, 100k I buy in large quantities and just refill when needed in the binder. Just those card pages you can find anywhere and was a cheap setup.
Totally stole your idea today. The binder is a great idea and saving me some sanity.

Bead organizers and pill organizers work pretty well for me. My resistors are still in their pink baggies, but organized in a cardboard box. Plastic storage drawers work wonders too. All from Walmart of course ;)

I finally broke down and got this Akro-Mills organizer. Best $50 I've spent in a long time. Before this I was using the "collection of small boxes of random parts stacked precariously in the corner" method of organization lol.

The labeling/distribution of things is a work in progress and I plan to get another organizer for resistors/diodes/transistors, probably the one that's entirely smaller drawers. But this alone will make projects much smoother and more enjoyable.

I have most of my parts on a cart with a spare work surface. It has room for the tubs for my passives, drawers for small parts like transistors and ICs, and then tackle boxes for the rest.

These are pictures of the "early - clean" days... *lol* :D

Works pretty well, but I could almost use another one at this point...

9 card binders for resistors, diodes, ceramic caps and transistors. Everything else is in bags inside boxes. All the boxes are stacked in one corner.

Do you keep your transistors and diodes stored in anti-static bags or are they just stored in their compartments as is?

I finally have room for a dedicated workspace and wasn't sure if it was safe to just toss transistors and diodes in their bins since the ESD bags I've been storing them in don't comfortably fit.

They're generally in their bags in the drawers...

I want to transition from have bags of parts lying around my workbench and am curious about how other people are managing their inventory. I'm also working on setting up a spreadsheet to track my parts.

Hey @Ctrl4Smilerz I'm a web developer and pedal building hobbyist and I'm in the process of building a website to help manage projects, parts lists, inventory, parts ordering etc. (as an alternative to spreadsheets). Check it out at https://www.pedalprojects.co.uk. I'd love to gauge interest in something like this; would it streamline your workflow or do you have an existing process that works for you?

I’m definitely interested in checking it out and signed up for the waiting list.

I also requested access! If you need help with development let me know.
