Hurricane Helene

Heavy rain and 15–20-mile wind in Ellijay north GA mountains, thankful it shifted towards the coast. Tough on our south Georgia Farmers, peanuts and cotton took a hard hit, not to mention the Pecan trees.

I haven't been out into town yet this morning but I think we mostly just got a lot of rain.

The initial forecast had it plowing straight through Albany but like @mkstewartesq said, it shifted east a bit so I think we dodged the worst of it.

@Robert , when I saw that Helene was bearing down on South Georgia, I prayed for you. I said “please God, let Robert be OK. He still needs to finish the trace of the EQD Swiss Things….”

It was fun to go into work for the additional day of comp time ... got to watch the redneck summer games on Bay News 9 all day. There were airboats, Jim Cantore, swamp buggies, coast guard, chainsaws, houses where there shouldn't be houses, and water where there shouldn't be water. I didn't see sharks where they shouldn't be, which is a great disappointment. We all want that urban legend moment where a juvenile bull shark decides to swim downtown St. Petersburg for the 'gram.

I used to do utility line clearance so this was my every summer for the better part of 12 years. I've seen and done enough during storm recovery work that I'd rather enjoy watching it on tv these days. I can't imagine doing it now that everyone is a content creator. I'd probably have to slap the go pro out of their hands to get any work done. I guess they could live stream the crackheads trying to rob the truck while I'm up in the bucket.
