If you look in almost any old Ibanez pedal you'll see most of the resistors soldered in vertically. I guess it was to save space, as there's usually a ton of them.

I was very curious and bought this clone for $30 on ETSY. I was really surprised to see the quality inside was pretty good. Then I started thinking about the resistors positioning on their pcb.
Despite Delyk telling you the UpDownDaddy is named after a game played with a daughter being tossed in the air like a salad,
the reason the project is named such as it is is because nearly all resistors go up/down, Daddy-O.
