Keith and BYOC is going out of business.

Thanks for the heads up! Since I started only a few years ago, I've only ordered from a few other places, never got the chance to try BYOC. Impulse bought some OC75 and OC76 transistors that I may never use and will probably sell at a loss a year from now.

I don't think their knobs have metal inserts
Looking my current stash, it looks like the 1510 all have metal plates.

On the 1900, the black knobs have a full metal collar (that’s that catholic Kubrik mash-up, that never got released…) inside, but all the other colors do not. Just set-screw through threaded plastic.

I’ve never had any issues with any of them though.
Probably wouldn’t put an all-plastic one on a rotary switch. But then, I wouldn’t like trying to turn a rotary with a 1900 anyway…

Man, that's wild. Like many I'm sure, my first-ever build was through BYOC.
For me it was their 250+ kit (DOD 250/MXR Distortion+). In fact, that was one of the first pedals I ever owned, too. I didn't know much at all about pedals but it was their cheapest kit at the time and I opted for the DOD 250, cuz I thought I'd prefer an "overdrive" to a "distortion". I mod-podge'd on a picture of a mushroom cloud and I thought it was the bee's knees.

Only problem here was that I had predominantly been a bass player up until this point so my only "guitar amp" was actually a Fender Rumble 100 1x15 bass amp...for which my frame of reference for "overdrive" was actually figuring out that if I dimed all the EQ controls and volume it'd cause the speaker to break up and sound kinda distorted I guess. Naturally my homemade DOD250 pushing my solid state bass amp into extra speaker breakup sounded like hot dog sh*t, but I was pretty well hooked. No matter how terrible it sounded, I look back on that time/experience very fondly.

Does anybody have all their schematics archived somewhere? Seems like a decent set of circuits. Not to mention they all work!

Seems like they still have a decent selection of knobs left. I just stocked up on the 1510 and 1900s that I use. Actually, those knobs were the main thing I bought from BYOC over the last few years. They always had the best price and color selection.

They do have VB-2 kits listed! Took me a while to snag one a few years ago. They always seemed to go out of stock quickly.
I had one of the first run VB-2 kits. I sold it because I didn’t use it. I still won’t use it much, but I kind of want to order the kit. But I don’t need yet another project in the backlog.

BYOC kits was how I got started a couple years ago too! My first soldering iron and multimeter was also from his beginner tool set, which was so helpful getting started. This reminds me I bought an extra 5 Knob Compressor kit that I told my mate I’d make him a year ago haha

I have a mimosa (orange squeezer with clean blend) and that thing is the tits ... I stupidly sold my tri-boost (rangemaster, lpb-1, or amz mosfet boost) but didn't get a replacement board before they discontinued it

I've built a few silver pony pedals for idiots customers that just had to have one but I maintain that the pedal itself was a fever dream as no tracing journal exists to back up the claims that got made

Early on I got the Flanger, Panner, Divided Octave and Super8.
Picked up the Mini-Mimosa, L'il Reverb and Chancellor too.
Oh yeah, Paracomp, Scrambler, L'il Phaser, Black Key, Lazy Sprocket...Probably forgetting a couple others. L'il Mouse.

By the time I saw this thread, it was too late to get the things I've been putting off getting for a few years.
The ones that got away ...
L'il Echo PCB
L'il Chorus PCB
360 PCB
Para-EQ PCB
Phase Royal
Crown Jewel

Really disappointed with the last one. Kicking myself for not getting that earlier.

After seeing this thread I managed to pick up a couple of PCBs and sundries.

ANYONE see the price of the 2N5133s? $15!
Crap, just order the L'il Beaver ⃤ kit $75 and you get 4 of them with some extra bits to build a pedal!

(And people wonder why I hoard PCBs — because you never know when it won't be available any more! Cees, for instance, too...)

The Phase Royal has been out of stock for as long as I can remember.

Definitely the end of an era. BYOC was the first DIY guitar pedal website I was ever aware of, but I never did buy any kits from them back in the day. When I finally dipped my toes into building I bought stuff from Aion FX and PedalPCB. It seemed like the BYOC site was stuck in a timewarp and the stuff I wanted to build wasn't ever in stock.

One of my favorite DIY pedals was their Armstrong Twin, which was an Orange Squeezer and Green Ringer in one enclosure. It would be cool if Robert could make PCBs for some of their designs like the Armstrong Twin and the Green Pony.

I got an email from Tube Depot today advertising that they are selling a few BYOC kits, wonder if they just bought out his remaining stock of a few pedals?

Anyone get an in transit shipping notification yet?

When did you order?

I ordered something on Sep 17 (the day this thread started). I got notification it was "processed" the following day, and then it arrived yesterday.

I didn't get any "in transit" notifications, so you probably needn't be worried.

17th also. They send a tracking number, thanks for ordering email notice. From that email I since got an out of stock notice and a partial refund. Still shows no movement per their website. I did another order when something came back in stock per the website, 19th I think, but no tracking information on that order yet. Not really worried just curious about fulfillment time. I am far away from the west coast, so I expect at least a week.

I ordered on the 17th and have only gotten the "order confirmed" email, no tracking info. Given the situation, I'm not super concerned about it but will start paying closer attention as time goes on. It's good to hear what others' timelines have been.

I ordered on the 17th, it was marked shipped that day, tracking started the 18th and I received it on the 20th. Just two items but it was quick for me

My first order appears to be in transit now with possibly 9/30 delivery date.
Is that from the order you put in on the 17th?

I ordered some transistors on the 18th and no updates... I live in the same state too. (WA)
