Yet another Kliche, but these are great builds. Sound fantastic and a classic. The charge pump whine is hit and miss with whats on eBay to be warned. I have a handful of counterfeit. But I did have a couple 7660s that are fine. Placed sided by side with another I built with different parts and similar germaniums, result in near identical sound. Pictured are my fave settings so low on the diodes.

This is my 3rd. 1st was instantly sold when another player tried it.
This one used a tantalum 4.7u output coupler. I wanted to see if that made any audible difference.

I second the knob choice being right, fills up the space nicely.

Did you notice any appreciable difference?

Nice! But we need to see a gut shot. :)
Ok, here they are. Last nights Gold one, and a few months ago I did one in an unpainted box I had. Now I can clearly see the differences and my thought pattern using caps in the signal chain. The unpainted version is undeniably kick ass. The Gold one used Tantalums and 1u Elna's I had left over from a Sansui resto. Unpainted used 1u polyester, electolytic and a 1uf Tant as per official schem on the net. I omitted the battery cause, because. And..... they stack really well. Both of these sound great and very similar parts differences and all. IMG_2185x1600.JPG IMG_2186x1600.JPG IMG_2187x1600.JPG IMG_2188x1920.JPG

swyse, being that Im boosting an already overdriven plexi managed by a Hot Plate, Im sure micro details are washed in the drive. There is subtle difference but its subtle. Cant say which is better, they are both very good. Maybe through a clean amp, any AB763, it would be more prominent. Ill try that later but I rarely play the Fenders.

I picked the same knobs for mine - they just fit really nicely, especially if you want to use a bezel on the led.

Nice builds!
