Let's See Your Amps

Randall RM22 with Salvation Audio modded pre's and Gibson Mercury. I "rescued' this Gibson about 30 years ago from an old slaves quarters on a farm deep down south. It had been there for ages, there was no trace of people being there for that long so it came with me. a great amp

the RM22 is so much fun. I've modded one of these pre's myself with pretty good results. The Salvation Audio ones are really where it;s at though. The updated system for this concepts is called Synergy now and is run by Friedman's company I think 20200410_122956[1].jpg

After searching for a Fender Deluxe for a while, I found this Music Man 210 Sixty-Five on craigslist for a good price. Weighs a ton, love the "high" and "low" power setting, and the "Music Men" rocking out on the label are hilarious. Music Man amps have an interesting history, too, check it out.

I'd love to build a slick 5W tube amp for bedroom/home purposes. If anyone has any recommendations on designs/parts/etc, that'd be incredible. Haven't really found any kits that draw me in, would rather find a schematic and go from there. Any recommendations?

Here's a short Demo of my Head at a Valvetone demonstration day where Demo Guitarist are ask to get up & let Rip.
He had not used this Amp & you can see him asking Darryl Hoy with Suspenders & red shirt what the Toggle switches do!
The Chap sitting beside him Eric Bellingham (EB Amps & Cabinets) makes the Cabinets.
It becomes Obvious when he starts Playing :

that's a great sounding amp. I wish my strat had this kind of meat. I never play it anymore

Okay, I'll play. I mostly use my 15 watt Monoprice tube amp, but here's some pics of my "Fake Amp" (work in progress). It's got a Wampler Tweed '57, effects loop, Belton brick spring reverb, EA tremolo, cabinet sim to give some character to the two 5.5" speakers, and is powered by 20 volt rechargeable batteries from a drill that bit the dust. I've got some black faux-lex to cover it with once I eventually button it up.

That "Fake Amp" is too cool! Love it.

Sold my Ax8 and went back to tube amps and learning to build pedals last August when i joined here...was going to buy/ build me a 50w Chuppa or Yeti Amp kit but Ceriatone is shut down ...so it maybe while till they open up so i bought this from a friend..he's outta work but it was his back up to his AX3...he never used it due to he can't play out for a long while it seems

Its 10x better than the Ax8, i found myself on playing my Strat on all the clean patches/scenes...my gosh its so lush thru my 8" monitors and sub

On the boost pedals you can switch diodes from all the ones we use on pedals , even has all the LEDS as clippers...you can notice the sound that's very cool

Going to really read instead of breeze thru the manual...i know you can add real pedals in front of it, ive built quite a few from here so time to try them out ! Wonder Drive is first .....

Gotta clean and make room on my desk...also have to build the Closed Circuit Booster Limiter from here now...ill be able to dial in that AC/DC sound that everyone struggles with...well maybe !

Mike

Been awhile...just work work work ! I did get this a while back Ceriatone JCM800 with the PPIMV/LAR mods off TGP ....really sounds great and no more PCB's in amps...lesson learned there with that Blackstar. Been buying tubes...my box is full of all the favorites must try..gheez...a small fortune ! I did buy the Hot Mod V2 for it, he's behind 5 weeks...so

The SD-1 really shines with this amp for some reason.....Wonder Drive a close 2nd.....Muzzle with the thru mod...good to go ! .....dead silent

Mike

I moved countries and continents twice in the last 8 years, so I had to let go of most of my amps at one point or another, but here's the current lineup:

I don't have a cab for the Friedman yet, been using it through a Torpedo Captor X for silent recording so far, but it's absolutely great!

This is my main amp. It’s a Fender Pro Jr. An old boss gave it to me. Apparently it’s a custom shop amp. These were NAMM specials a few years back. They made some team built guitars that came with matching reliced amps. He didn’t like the amp so he gave it to me. Inside it’s just a stock pro, but outside it has the relic paint work and parts.
