LM833 IC

Just bought several parts for some upcoming builds and got a few LM833 ICs. I know this chip is a dual op amp and has been said as being comparable to the NE5532. Am I correct in believing this? Also does anyone have any experience using the LM833?

They are compatible. Most dual op amps are, if they have the same package. But to be sure just google the data sheets and check the pin outs of each device. If the pin outs are the same than you can use them. Other things you would need to check are power in voltages, slew rates, max input voltages to name a few.
I have used the LM833 quite a few times. It's not a bad sounding device. Its a low noise audio pre-amp so it works quite nicely in the right circuit. I'm not a huge fan of it in a high gain circuit, But it works nice in a low to medium gain circuit.
