Pedal Heads: Don't Read This Article

If the Item Were Not on Sale, Would I Want It?

If it's a MIAB then yes.

Are There Similar Products Like This That I Like More?

No, I have several MIABs but the one I don't have yet is the one I will like more.

Is the Sale Price Really the Best Price?

Yes, especially when you factor how much money I'm saving by building myself.

Will I Go into Debt Paying for the Item?

No, it's just a PCB. And some pots. And some knobs. And a switch. And some jacks. And an enclosure. And some mojo parts. And... wait, what is the question again? Did you see the answer to the previous question?

Would the Money Be Better Spent Elsewhere?

Plead the 5th.

I don't think I buy things purely because they are on sale, but sometimes the fact the thing I have been waiting for is on sale will spur me to buy. I don't buy a lot of pedals. Even my weakness, delay pedals, are bought infrequently because I'm pretty fussy.

And I never seem to time my PedalPCB purchases right!

Mostly what I buy these days is parts.

Sales are good on things that you planned on buying anyways. I don't buy for the sake of sales really.

Only time I might is if I have some money to burn and just want to see what's out there. In those cases, you might consider buying something simply because it's on sale or clearance. I've bought a number of pedals that way, stuff I probably wouldn't have bought otherwise.

I can't read this article!

Maybe I shouldn't read it, but I would like.

Yup me too. Can anyone upload it for us please?

This book was recommended to me, about a year ago:

I haven't bought it yet, as I still need a few more N1, BB and B2 enclosures...

I'm not Japanese but I am a minimalist - in some ways... Both me and my wife hate clutter. So our house is sparsely furnished and has plenty of places to put stuff away. Our main living area is quite modernist and has no pictures on the walls - just a huge clock - but it doesn't need anything to be interesting. We don't have shelves displaying knick-knacks, or lacy doilys on tables, etc.

But my office is crammed with shelves and cupboards bursting with amp parts, pedals, pedal parts (no body parts - pretty sure), Amps, and a Marshall beer fridge. It can't be any other way!

But in amp and pedal design I am very much the minimalist. Too many knobs kill tone. A pedal or an amp should have just enough knobs but no more.
