Pedal storage

I haven’t been building for a bit as we recently moved and have been busy in general. I’m hoping soon to have my work area up and running again and some time to build. 1727924883423.jpeg
This is my new electric guitar playing area. I think it’s coming along well other than a bit of cables needing organized and the giant tapestry of pedals on the floor.

Help me find some inspiration on what to do with my growing collection.

- racks / shelving helps a fair bit
particularly if you’re stuck with tight space.

e.g. (this is a 3.3 x 3.3m room)

@DailyDovetails not sure if the wall your guitars are hung on is an exterior wall, but I read recently the temperature change on the outside can potentially cause condensation or other temperature-related problems for guitars hung on exterior walls. Just FYI!

Somewhere i saw a thing about ikea shoe shelves working really well i think. Or something like that. Basically just a shelf with two dowels running one higher than the other.
It might of been a video from dk pedals on you tube, looked awesome.

It think it was Andrew Masters or Mitch Gallager (both Sweetwater whores) who had the Ikea shelf idea for pedals.

I once said to myself: "you only need as much pedals that you can fit in this chest."

But... (this is the stuff on heavy rotation)

That smaller chest was basically an addendum to my synth storage. The ones I use at this moment stand on shelves, wrapped in old cloth. Part of the ordeal when doing woodwork in the same room as doing music. As doing soldering. As doing eating. As doing sleeping. 🙈

When I move to a larger place, I make my own variation of those slightly angled wall shelves in the background of JHL's Josh's videos (but with glass lids). The simplest and safest way to pick them up and put them back without bumping into everything, I think.

I use sheet pan racks to hold all my peadals. It holds a lot and is very space efficient!

That’s a good idea I never would have considered. I could see storing other things like that also. Any idea how many you have on there? Just curious I think 2-3 racks would hold all of mine.

I look at the wall and can't help to notice the lack of a marshall stack. Need bigger amp.

Try it out! It works super well! I remember that a single sheet pan can hold ~50 1590A's (less of bigger pedals). I have a 20 high rack, but you can also get a shorter 10-high one.

I'm a big fan of sheet pan storage. Any project that involves disassembly and might not get finished in one go I try and do on a sheet pan on the bench. That way if something comes up and I need the bench I can just move the pan.

I have a small rack but unfortunately it's full of the parts of an engine I tore down *cough* eight or nine years ago. I guess I need to build that engine back up so I can fill the rack with pedals.

My current pedal storage is mostly in these tool box drawers.

Just finished this afternoon. Made some shelving out of a bunch of scrap plywood I found on the side of the road for our town's large garbage pickup day. I thought about pulling the trigger on some Ikea stuff, but this was cheaper and more fun, lol. Not really a build report, but I did DIY the crap out of this. Bare wood right now, but once the weather gets warmer I will prime and paint it. Most likely next spring.

Picture's not the greatest, but they ARE all level and even. I think I need to build a few more. This doesn't include what's on my pedalboard at the moment, lol
