COMPLETE Soldano SLO Overdrive

This sounds great and I am total SLO fanboy so would love to see what's going on here. I realise there are some other SLO type projects out there, that recent tube based GTO project for one but apart from that this is the first time I've seen one actually from Soldano themselves. Some of the YT demos sound pretty sweet.

Every single knob was installed against the splines in the pot, so they were incredibly hard to remove.

When I reinstalled them properly none of the pointers lined up properly. It was impossible to make them all line up the same.

Based on demos it has very much opamp compression / congestion in the mids. Would it be possible to mod it on to the j201 to mаke more it dynamic and reduce to gain sweep to more usable levels?

Mod SLO pedal from op amps to JFETs?
And why the assumption that JFETs should be more dynamic? In my opinion it all depends on the design.

One thing I'd like to add in regards to the build quality of these....

The pots are splined shaft and someone decided to force one of the knobs on, crushing the shaft in the process.

The knob was clearly not seated properly and wobbled when turned. Definitely shouldn't have been shipped in this condition.
What value is the Gain Pot & Taper?

I was going to offer to send you mine when I was done with it, but it looks like you don't need it :p

Mine showed up yesterday, and I spent a couple minutes playing around with it (after poking around the insides, of course). It sounds pretty good, the tonestack is responsive and you can dial in a nice array of tones, but the overall gain structure just feels like too much gain to me. With gain set to 3 it feels as heavy as I would ever need it. The response over the sweep of the gain pot feels weird as well, after about 4 or so it doesn't feel like more gain, it just feels like more saturated gain, if that makes sense. So I would say the overall sound is good, but it will probably go into my trophy case rather than my actual pedalboard.

Anway, my opinion based on 2 minutes of playing with it.
Your the 2nd person to say that about the Gain Pot & sweep of it!

The Gain pot is A500K.

I also must agree on this, because I almost always dime the gain control on dirt pedals and I played around with this one at noon before even realizing it.

It's a voltage divider (like a master volume) so I don't think changing the value is going to have a huge impact.

250k pot + 250k resistance in front of the potentiometer should reduce signal by half (keeping the overall "pot" value the same)

With JFETs, I either use a lower-value drive pot, or (more often) use 2N5457s or MPF102s for less gain.

The SLOstortion might be a better candidate if you're wanting to fool around with JFETs.

I was going to suggest this one: Soldano SLO 100 Emulator
I haven't finished it yet, but there was one demo on YT that sounded really good.

Coincidental Wampler release that would be kinda funny if it was the SLO with the presence control on a switch

What is UP with that?
And what is the 'Collective' series? A partnership with an offshore manufacturer?

Given the price point that’s what I’m guessing the ‘Collective’ series is? Even Wampler’s MIA minis are like $149 retail so for $119 he’s gotta be manufacturing elsewhere I think?

Looks like this vendor jumped the gun by a few hours but if the price is accurate this one has my interest
