So I definitely think there's a benefit to using carbon zinc batteries over alkaline ones in germanium fuzzes, that's been my personal experience at least. Now my question is this, does a charge pump negate any difference in the power source? And the questions that underlie my original one - What makes carbon zinc batteries so great, and what does a charge pump do exactly that might or might not negate that?
