Tayda UV Printing

This might be a silly question, but do I need an RDG white layer underneath my colour layer if I am printing on a white enclosure?

I may have just submitted an order like this with an colour layer only on a white enclosure and I’m not sure if I should bother Hugo by asking him to cancel the print job.
From memory, I've just submitted the full colour PDF. The white layer was there in the file, but it was empty. 1768615948074.png

Thanks for that.

I have always created a white layer just to be sure regardless of the enclosure colour. Good to know I don’t need to on white.

Also good to know about not having to separate colours on a white enclosure. That will save time!
I don't even create a white layer when I'm printing on lighter color enclosures. Winked Silver is my go-to finish, and I've never needed a white layer on those.

The only time I will is if it’s on the matte/sand white, as it seems to smooth it out a bit first and then the color looks a little nicer. But that’s not-picking and probably I’m the only one that would notice it.

Yeah that was a little offputting, I didn't watch very long before deciding I would just figure it out myself.
Anyone else see Tayda's new AI humanoid instructional video on the drill/print dashboard? Not really sure why they couldn't just go with screenshots but whatever. It's nice to see the site getting some love at any rate.

You mean those cool Tayda shirts don't exist?

I noticed that on their https://www.taydaelectronics.com/pcb-assembly page (which is "Pedal Box Modifications" and not about PCB assembly) there's a mention of engraving. Anyone know how that works and what it costs?

Also curious is the mention about alternate printing modes, instead of White -> Color -> Gloss, there should be Color -> White -> Gloss and White -> Color -> White -> Gloss which are "Coming soon".

Engraving is listed in the "additional services" which makes me think it's only available on special orders where you request a quote based on your need. I assume the same is true of anodizing, which is mentioned right below engraving.

Yep. Ordered 5 enclosures on 4/30. 4 of them have been done for weeks now. Hugo said they were having issues with the last enclosure’s color (gold water texture), but nobody reached out or canceled the order so I had no idea. They don’t even offer that color anymore, which is how I pieced together there was an issue in the first place.

I haven’t really gotten a clear answer on whether they’d be able to sub in a different color. They’ve been responsive over email but the job hasn’t moved yet :-/

I forget that my 5 pieces order is nothing for these guys lol.
Yeah my suspicion is they look at how many total they have to do in each color and prioritize whatever has the most. I've had times when I've had an order sitting in powdercoat limbo for weeks, then I place a new order of the same color and all of a sudden both orders start moving at the same time.

50 of one color is a pretty typical order for me, partially because I know I'll use them eventually and partially because that's where the best price breaks are.
