Undervolting FV-1?

Did anyone play around with the supply voltage to see if it still works at less than the recommended 3.3V? I'd be very interested to know how a lower suppy voltage affects (reduces) current draw.

Background: a PT2399 is specified at about 25 mA current draw at 5V, with a minimum allowed 4.5V. I found that it still works fine at 3V (at least the original PTC, does, as well as one clone), where it draws as low as 8mA!

IMO, the PT2399 is a very different animal compared to the FV-1. And while I've never tried a lower PS than 3.3V for the FV-1, the datasheet suggests it may 'work' with a lower voltage. And FWIW, every FV-1 build I've completed draws about 65mA.
