Hi guys,

I'm working on the Van Pelt Drive PCB right now and I was wondering I can use a 1N4739A diode for D1 (calls for a 9V1 diode) or if there is a specific diode I should use?

Thanks,
Marcus

Hi there... came here looking to ask this question about the 9v1 diode in the Van Pelt, so thank you. However I don't have any 1N4739A diodes on hand. Could I use a 1N5239B, as it is also a Zener 9v diode? Apologies if this is a newbie question.

Yes you can use 1N4739A or 1N5239B.

That's a protection diode for the mosfet. Although most often it's zener, I've even seen some circuits use non-zener's such as 1n4001 for these (for example EQD Black Eye).
