Behind the POV is a cabinet filled with pedals and a few pedalboards on the floor.

Here’s but the tip of a pedal-iceberg

I built him a Superb Halinda Overdrive (SHO), not pictured, and the pictured Drive 55 *(vanderlaff dynamic YATS for his 55th Bday).

Besides, he's given me his Electric Mistress AND a Boss BF-1 Flanger — SAD1024 but true!
I refused the Mistress, he insists it's mine and I insist it’s his — so we kind of share custody of it.

The weather was nice this weekend, so I took the opportunity to spray my Particle Accelerator enclosure, and here's the result:

I used the old toaster oven trick, and the process was
  1. Dominion Sure Seal One-Step self-etching primer, bake 30min @ 250-ish F (x2)
  2. Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch 2X Ultra Cover Gloss Navy Blue, bake 30min (x2); this paint is surprisingly beautiful and has extraordinarily good coverage, I was surprised at how little effort it took to get a deeply coloured, uniform layer. I almost stopped here because I liked the result so much, but I had a vision!!
  3. Rust-Oleum Painter's Touch Gloss Brilliant Blue, bake 30min (x2); note not the same paint as the base coat, this was only because my local hardware store was out of the matching product in the requisite colour :rolleyes:, so I went with the next closest thing. I was going for a gradient of light blue to dark blue (which of course I screwed up on, on the sides, but never you mind). The spatter of light blue on the top half was a complete accident, but I like the way it looks.
  4. Dominion Sure Seal High Gloss Crystal Clear Instant Clear Coat, thin layer, bake 20min (x2). The clear coat adhered perfectly well to the dark blue first colour coat, but seemed to be somewhat incompatible with the lighter blue paint, and sort of beaded on the surface before curing, which was super strange BUT gave a really interesting textured finish to the light blue half of the box, which I also kind of like...
Not shown is the various flecks of crap in the paint, unfortunately unavoidable given my imperfect setup... but despite the various imperfections, I think it looks pretty good! Next step is to send it off for UV printing, and I figure between the ink and the knobs the appearance of the imperfections will be minimized 😛

The biggest thing that it does for me is keep components and boards from sliding around- I've got a fucked set of nerves and suffer from spasms and tremors, so I'm constantly unintentionally jostling stuff. The mat definitely helps with that.

I do use it sparingly for its little organizational compartments, and being silicone, it does prevent me from searing the ever living jeebus out of the top of my workbench

This is exactly why I got one.
 
Another rattle-can job, this time for the Diplomat enclosure:

Similar process as last time,
  1. Dominion Sure Seal One-Step self-etching primer, bake 30min @ 250-ish F (x2)
  2. BeautiTone Interior/Exterior Gloss Enamel "Mulberry", bake 30min (x3), it's kind of difficult to get a true-to-colour picture of this paint, it's much more purple than it appears above. The paint itself has a terrible consistency IMO, and relatively poor coverage (it took 3 coats to get it all uniformly covered), but I have to admit that the cured result looks amazing. It is super smooth and ended up with minimal contamination.
  3. Dominion Sure Seal High Gloss Crystal Clear Instant Clear Coat, thin layer, bake 20min (x2). The clear took well to the paint and there was no weird beading this time. I'm quite pleased with the result.
