Thank you. I have no idea why my name is spelled “Mikennice” original message, by the way – my name is Mike and I guess that weird autocorrect is just iOS’s way of telling me I should be a nicer person.

As I mentioned above, my daughter helped out on that one because she takes great pity on my artistic sense. To prove that point, here’s one I was working on today. I’m going to be building the PPCB Unchained, which is basically the Eddie Van Halen brown sound. So, being phenomenally uncreative, I just threw myself headlong into that theme. Perhaps I will think of something better before the board actually arrives.

Messy AF! But I need the space. Had a few hiccups because my schematic was all kinds of janky.

Got it working just as it was time to put the spawn to bed, but it works. One of these days I need to grab/build some more pro looking/functioning I/O so the jacks aren't all dangling everywhere.
 
I got around to doing some debugging on the auto wire stripper/cutter I assembled a few months back. The rotary encoder does not like being near the stepper motor drivers nor the microcontroller. It was causing some funky behavior. Moved the encoder out of the control box then realized the stepper motors for the cutting blade were moving in the opposite direction than needed. Opened up the source code and found a few methods for the cut and strip functions, modified them and voilà!

Auto Wire Stripper

Maybe the blade holders could be modified for a pair of flat cut or guillotine type blades.
Then the issue is feeding the tape, which could be accomplished, but that would require quite a bit of redesign.

I’ve seen a few designs that may be a better starting point, or maybe someone has made something specific. Dang it! Now I wanna go down that rabbit hole!😂😂😂

THIS IS SOO FRIGGIN COOL. I love it. Total overkill for me but how often has that stopped me in this hobby?
 
I built an ss-2, boxed it up in a 1590bb with a Mach 1. Love the Mach 1 but the ss-2 isn't doing anything for me. I was really looking forward to trying a Cornish design but not to the degree that the hype was coloring my anticipation. It's fine. It's on my board (because I won't take the Mach 1 off). And I never use it. Totally understand why everyone is lukewarm on them now.
 
Getting very RAD and bit fancy ... I ordered some Beyschlag MBB-SMA 1% 0,6W resistors and Panasonic FC & Nichicon YX caps just for this one, the Dizzy Elk.
I have a nice selection of GE diodes to try, but also just realized that my whole GE NPN transitor stash consists of those 4 pictured.
- 2x Mullard OC139, hFe 44 and 51, (for Q1, Q2)
- 2x GT404B, Hfe in the 80ies (for Q3).
Should be good enough I'd say, but I ordered some MP38 just to be able to try different combinations and actually make sense of those sockets, ha-ha. I still need to come up with some cool graphics .... and finally, as y'all surely know:

Another learning situation. I have some templates set up in KiCad that have the basic power section, in, out, and a few pots. Welp, I used the wrong power setup for this Dinosaural Tube Bender. I also had a couple transistors backwards, so that led me to make up specific footprints with proper pin outs for each basic type which will take the guesswork out of it.

Just a very quick and dirty test using a waterslide decal (I wanted to check to see how the colors came out before committing to film free decals). This is for my Clandestine Preamp. I’ll need to reduce the opacity on the red stamps because they look good when the light hits them in an angle but dead on they really wash out on the metal flake enclosure, but I think it’s a promising start.

As I mentioned a bit upthread, I'm currently working out a blend/EQ box for my mutant dobro/banjo hybrid. Thinking Aqua Vein 1590XX, I may add a few more features before it goes to print too:

And of course it'll have side jacks, and tons of offboard wiring, because I care. 🤠
