What’s on *YOUR* workbench?

I was just working on a new build when I realized I'm out of 8-pin sockets. So I decided to steal some from an old build I still had that never worked.

I think I inadvertently discover why it never worked 😂 I don't know what's worse, being one pin away from a working pedal some 18 months ago, or realizing I'm STILL gonna be a socket short for this new project!

Again with this stupid Shallow Water. I don't know why the LED is always on. There's continuity with the two CLRs.
I replaced the 3PDT because it wasn't switching. One ground pad died so I had to run ground to the footswitch from a jack.
I got it to work but then it stopped. And the damn trimpots...

It's Monday, it's cold and I hate everything.

My wife has been building with me a lot lately (it's a lot easier to talk your wife into something when it's profitable), but she finally drew the line on the mess. "If you're not going to let me organize the workshop for you, then I'll sit here and solder and you will clean up the workshop."

Turns out both the bench and the workshop as a whole were bigger than I always thought they were. Just took 6 hours or so to find that out.

In production it certainly makes a difference. Chips may pop out of their sockets, not only in rocket science. But all my perf board builds are prototypes!:)
 
A continuation of my post in the mailbox thread. Ordered a bunch of transistors to audition in a treble booster circuit. One of them was this KTD718 which turned out to be a little bigger than expected :D The thing is, it actually sounds pretty damn nice.

Here's a clip of the below circuit into a Marshall DSL100H:

For comparison, same circuit, same everything, but with a 2N5550 transistor:

Wouldn't have expected there to be that much high-end roll-off with the KTD718. Makes it sound much sweeter. hFE is 87 for the D718 and 135 for the 2N5550. I originally tweaked the circuit around the 2N5550 but it sounds so much harsher in comparison now.
