interesting.
i've got a barrel jack on my ibanez (
switchcraft replacement, factory ibanez one wore out in less than 2 years).
but in general my experience is that those barrel jacks that ibanez insist on are the fucking pits and should be wiped from the earth.
with the way the spring contacts are designed, with a bout a bees dick of spring travel, they're just a shitty unreliable design in general.
the replacement switchcraft that's in there is already failing after 2.5 years, for the last few months i've been tolerating the odd occasional signal cut if the lead gets moved or tugged, but ideally it should be replaced.
signal cut is regardless of whatever type of lead is being used (incl. those exact ernie ball lead jacks).
i'd be wondering whether your jack is just worn out rather than the shape of the tip being an issue.
tl;dr - barrel jacks suck. especially oem ibanez ones.
