What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Today was a great day for the mailbox. First, these awesome screen printed diode labels from @Ginsly. Among other things, they'll come in very handy for some upcoming Tone Bender Mk. III projects—having a diode with the right leakage to bias Q3 is the difference between mind-blowing and meh in that circuit.

And second, some NOS Motorola MA287 germanium transistors. Here's a picture; hFE and leakage measurements are below.

I picked up 500 turrets from Ali express which should get me through the next amp project and a couple of more after. Not gonna lie, it was a reaction order because of the tariff bullshit.

I also got these recently too:

Pretty good looking eh? Welp I didn’t look close enough before ordering and didn’t notice this:
IMG_6964.jpeg
No flaring hole. Smooth like a conehead butt. They might be awesome for soldering into a PCB? I hope I find a use for them since I ordered 600 of them 😫

IMG_6965.jpeg

I am learning old school cable lacing. There shall be no zip ties my in my GT120 and future amp builds.

Finally, added more to my pedal queue, to the front I think:

I was going to do the Schu-Tone DS2, Effects Layouts MD2, PPCB OS2 first, and now Dirt Monger XT2 if I can figure out how to fit it in a 125B.

@VanWhy inspired me to do a BB2 HM2 Four Horseman quadfecta first. GCI HM1, and Dirt Monger HMT2 likely #1 and #2. Another contender is the Ibanez SF variation @PedalBuilder posted recently, into a MAE HMTone of course. Some others I’d like to try are MAE Titan (BMP sans tone stack), MAE Dark Grime (Deluxe Meathead), and MAE Cronus (Devi Hyperion plus).

Just need to get through my amp projects.

9 cord and a Jonard lacing tool! Woohoo! Your fingers gonna be pissed off!!

In a previous life, I did quite a bit of DC cable lacing, power lines between UPS modules and battery banks for data centers.

Soon to be in mailbox: placed order last night for the Hydra board, FV1 chip, and faceplate. Captain Bit board too.
Eyeballing the Mad Bean Boss CS1 board and potential Mouser order for the THAT2231 and other assorted parts Tayda don’t carry

You mean @bean 's CS-3 board? The Oracle? That's a great compressor. A bit noisy but not any more than a Dyna Comp. It's got a crap ton of compression available.

That is the one!

Also looking to possibly pick up the THAT4301 and a power supply from Guitar-Electronics.eu
Not a huge compressor user, but for sure like having a few different options.
Own a Maxon CP101, Carl Martin Compressor/Limiter, and a Warm Pedal76.
Feel this would make a good addition

That's a lot of compressor for a non-compressor user hahaha. How do you like the Warm Pedal76? That one looks really interesting to me.
The Oracle will definitely bring some different sounds to the table. You can get that David Gilmour dual compressor sound with the CS-3.

The WA76 is pretty dang cool. Subtle, and so far, I find its best with my les Paul and acoustic/electrics. Build quality is superb, and pairs very, very well with the WA Centavo
I keep the Maxon around for some Telecaster chicken pickin, and the Carl Martin is my go-to on a bass.

SASHA-APPROVED!

Just in from @Nostradoomus, an armada of enclosures and a bonus round.
THANK YOU DUDE!

From the bottom black, going clockwise:
1 x EHX-spec Black Russian
2 x 1590BB-sized slopers (portrait)
2 x 1590U-sized (stupor-tall "1590Q" 120x120x59 non-sloping)
2 x 1590N1-sized slopers (portrait, natch)
2 x 1590B3-sized slopers (portrait, see a pattern here?)
1 x Little Muff-enclonesure (just a wee bit deeper than the 120mm depth of the 1590-based others, 'bout 130mm)

These Brazilian babes are FREQ'N' AWERSUM!

The FIT and FINISH are supremely good — Extremely good FIT.
Tighter tolerances than a Brazilian Bikini-Waxing.

Can HIGHLY recommend, Maggie's got it goin' on!
No wonder @Guilherme Collateral uses them. I long admired the enclosures he uses, but to have an example in hand — wow!

Bonus Round:
La crême c'est les FUCKIN' PEDALS stickers avec une PCB "Albert Hoffmann's Hearing Aid",
that's Nostradoomus' own crazy one-knobber — so stoked to build that!

Quite the build-queue blown wide open!
Have the MEGA-LOAD from @drgonzo1969 🙏 from the other day and now some enclosures for them. My mind was blown, still is.

The always helpful & knowledgeable @jwin615 sent me a TRULY badass Party Pack, including this adorable little GT310B which I have trained and named Ge-remy Irons. Huge huge thanks to @jwin615!!
They're dainty little germs. One day I want to use one with a BART. Or maybe tack one onto a bart to make a darlington. Like it's catching a ride back to the motherland. Would be so funny. Now don't let me go to waste. Make things that make noise!

Found a decent deal at Distrelec for these Traco TRN 1-0515 DC-DC converters. Still expensive (~8.50 € per piece after tax and shipping) but better than what they usually go for. I had good experiences with the TEC series in a couple of Aion FX builds, so I thought I'd give these a try. 4.5-13.2V input voltage, 24V regulated output, isolated I/O, no minimum load, 45mA max output current, small footprint (~12x8mm). Planning to use these in a re-voiced Dr. Boogey circuit I'm currently working on.

Newest set of enclosures from Tayda. I overdid the CMYK conversion a bit, they're not too dark, but now black is slightly gray - before the camera made them look better than they look in real life, now they look slightly worse than in real life. They look pretty good, the Stoner Bee is perfect for me - extra points for anyone who notices the wordplay/pun in it (apart from the obvious).

Next batch I'll probably try changing the black setting from medium to heavy or something, or maybe I'll raise the black ink % slightly, but not too drastically. Or we'll see, I haven't planned anything about them yet, I just know my backlog is huge.

Also got an LSCS shipment including tons of relays for the szukalski relay boards!
