This actually came in yesterday's mail. My first o'scope! I haven't got a clue what to do with it yet but @Guardians of the analog
is going to walk me through calibrating a BBD delay pedal. He's been trying for years now to turn me into an "intelligent builder" when I'm really just a paint by numbers kind of guy heh. "Just tell me where to put the trimmers at dude......"
On the flip side, I've got him sniffing and rolling pickup magnets now.........

Finally replacing my knockoff tip with a genuine Hakko one. Also finally replacing my twenty year old solder.
TEquipment had a decent discount sale on things.

The difference of the Hakko vs cheap Amazon tips is remarkable. You'll never look back. Take care of it and it will last. I like to use the small conical sharp pointy ones which are by default pretty fragile. I generally get about 6 months out of mine with moderate use.

I've had decent experience with the chisel D12 (first one from Hakko years ago), but if I had the expendable income I'd get the slot tip. But they're like $60
I have a.8 or something bevel tip for SMD work, too—knockoff, but hopefully it'll last s little longer

Yes, but hardly degrades, particularly if it has no contact to oxygen/air. Manufacturers simply have to put an expiration date
on everything, and thus they go the safe way. I'm using solder with a rosin core that is presumably from the 70's and it's as
good as new. Newer fluxes are also pretty stable, because they have to withstand high temperatures likewise.

When I tried to order flux (a tub of paste, no clean) made by MGChemical they dropped a surprise overnight shipping requirement on it. TEquipment eventually made it right—and adjusted their marketing language on the site description—but the manufacturer claimed that it needed to be delivered that quickly because of breakdown.
I literally got the vibes of the mad scientist from Ocarina of Time who insisted the frozen frog eyes be delivered fresh.
I had to tell the te sales guy that I was perplexed at the idea it would break down, or at least lose quality, so quickly that it would be unviable. I'm not in biotech or aerospace, so my work isn't mission critical anyway.
Like, do they expect a whole friggin tub of flux paste to be used in a 24 hr period? Even if they ship it overnight, what's the whole, I don't even… The expedited shipping mandate from mgc makes zero sense.

I wonder at what ambient temp that paste goes liquid and leaks out of the tub. Maybe they've had problems with shipments sitting in very hot trucks?

I didn't know Indium corp made solder. Wild. Used to order Indium gaskets for GE cryostatw from them. Still have a 2 pound or so ball of "used" Indium somewhere.
Anyway, if you're not using germanium solder, what are you even doing this for? All the warmth and overtones will be missing from your joints.

It's Friday and yet another pink bag delivery from Hugo et al.
Comprising an assortment of flattop LEDs, diodes, MFRs, pots, and switches, this means I can at last complete some half-finished builds (Byzantium 2nd iteration, Two tone fuzz [still managed to order the wrong on-on-on switch!
], Marigold fuzz, and Capsize for starters).Since Tayda moved to FedEx, the postage and duty costs in this neck of the woods have actually come down. Curiouser and curiouser (but I'm not complaining)

You can pull apart the on-on-on and flip its widget 180º, re-assemble, and you'll have what you need.

A new Musikraft 12 string neck, so I can convert my old Thinline baritone into a 12 string. Supposed to come in today. I’ll need to finish it (rubbed gun stock oil) which takes about a week. I also need to make the nut. Can’t wait to see it! Wenge shaft with roasted bird’s eye board, EVO frets. Oh, and lotsa screw holes for the tuners…
