NAD

This came the other day. It's a 1-watt Marshall DSL1 tuber (not the insanely expensive original).

This is much more than a "one-watter" and I'm really glad I took a chance on it. I paired it with a 12" Celestion Greenback (which also arrived) in a handmade solid pine extra deep semi-open back cab and it .
Two classic Marshall channels, but the clean side is where this puppy shines. It's a fantastic recording or practice amp, either through the headphone out or the vastly improved emulator. I've yet to try it in 4-cable mode with the Line 6, but that's on my list. I don't normally use an effects loops outside of that configuration.
The dirt channel is the classic Marshall breakup.

...that's the shipping box..not the cab :ROFLMAO:

Friend of mine has been talking this thing up for months to me now figured I’d try it out with the BF deal and Amazon’s convenient return policy. We’ll see how it goes didn’t have an amp with headphone out and some of the features sound interesting.

It’s weird so far been a long time since I’ve played with a multi fx with presets. Which this reminds me of, more intuitive than the thing I had 20 years ago though as I recall.

Playing around with the behringer superfuzz last night, I’ve found some tweaks that I’ll definitely want to put on my Aion FZ-2 build. First off, I already planned on doing a 4 position rotary switch in place of a toggle switch for the modes so I can get the 1/2 hybrid mode, and that’s definitely been confirmed by playing with it last night as it may be the best sound the pedal has!
Next up, I definitely will want center detents on the treble and bass pots so I can more easily set the bax to be flat. Now for the more obtrusive mods; first off I’ll almost certainly want to put a variable LPF on the input so I can set it for those pronounced “neck with the tone rolled off” octave tones without actually rolling the tone off. Next, the mode 2 scoop is pretty damn pronounced, and I might want to make some tweaks to make it a bit less extreme— probably put it on a toggle so I could still have the deep scoop in the blend mode. Lastly I might want to move the response of the tone stack down a bit. I’ll play around a bit on the breadboard in the future to see

So, another envelope of treasures from CabinTech arrived yesterday (vactrols and a BBD for future reference). Almost there with the collecting of some fairly obscure parts to begin three MBP builds (Total Recall, Polytrog, and Sludgehammer) from Banzai, Tayda, and CabinTech. Been a long wait and hope to begin these by early to mid-December.

Just got hit with a massive duty fee for my Tayda order, amounting to almost double the actual cost. Not strictly DHL's fault but local customs charge an absurd so-called 'line item fee.'

What I lose here I may make up on orders with only PCBs through our local post office, but boy this is getting to be an expensive undertaking (habit/addiction/delete which not applicable).

Apologies for the mild rant... in the absence of objects to fold, spindle, or mutilate, let's all go build something instead. :alien:

You are going to love that Total Recall build. I also used Cabintech for the bbds.

Sorry to hear about those duty fees. I’ve fortunately never had to deal with that nonsense, yet, but I did have some buddies in Australia who would have me buy and send them boxes of gear in the past. Happy birthday and merry Christmas seemed to help the cause…

The line fee might be a DHL thing and not a customs thing, I saw in the Canada thread people have been hit with that from only DHL.

DHL, FedEx, UPS, all of the shipping companies I've used in the past have all had some version of brokerage fee that, in my experience, at least equals the cost of the shipping fee itself. And then there's the local customs/duty as well.

I got 3 500k pots in the mail for a tele with humbucker and only one is within 10% of 500k. All of them less than 480k. This stuff is driving me mad. How close to the actual value do yall accept? I know it probably will sound find but knowing the values will drive me nuts

I use one for practice, decent little box for the price
