The demos for this sound pretty dang rad. When this was released I immediately breadboarded the Trident pre-amp this is based on using Balmoral Electric's research. That alone is a killer boost/fuzz even without the transformer and pre-gain boost. Better than a standalone Univibe preamp imo.
 
Didn't the designer of Trident boards have a range of Bass pedals a few years back? Basics Bassics or something? They were blue

I’ve always been curious in that 2B boost pedal/limiter. Can it actually be used to “soften” the peaks adding a touch of sag or rectifier type touch to it?

Not really, I’m still not completely sure I’m not imagining what the “limiter” does. You’re better off using a lightweight transparent compressor.
 
Speaking of fuzz, does anyone have "insight" into the Farm Pedals Landau Density Matrix?
According to their own description based on a Black Russian Muff.

Again one of the pedals that simply gets unaffordable considering shipping, import tax, and VAT :(
 
Suggestion: this is a great dbx/THAT one-knob compressor using currently available parts. Basically a modern dbx163. Maybe you'd want to make a PCB for it?

(this design note is a real gem).

I'd just use TL072's instead of the suggested opamps, and maybe add a switch to allow bypasing the NLC in favor of a regular cap. A normal cap sounded better to my ears when used with a bass, so I didn't even implement the NLC at all in my onboard take on it.
