What's in the mailbox? 📬 📦

Alright. Fingers crossed my last order for 2022… Amplified Parts Sunday delivery for the win. Everything I need to wrap up the Carbon, Electro Vibe and hand wired Tube preamp. *when you didn’t realize 2watt resisters were the size of small 🐛 !

Nice haul! Which preamp tube are you using, and are you using a transformer or something like a power MOSFET?

12ax7. I tried several options on the ole breadboard and landed on a variation of Rob’s Blackvibe. Link
Just the pre amp section with a few switching options and a switchable high pass on the out. Using Roberts HV supply module for power. On the bread board with 1/4 watt and small caps it sounds amazing through my rig. Thought I’d kick in a few bucks and go full size caps and resistors similar to how Kingsley does it. Looking forward to building it out. I will post the final build and tweaks when complete.

A stepping stone to building a full amp I guess.

Sometimes it's fun to absolutely spoil ones'self with a eurorack kit- all the parts are pre-picked and there's no offboard wiring.

I've had my eye on this module for awhile as a vocal effect, so I jumped on it when Synthrotek was handing them out free-with-purchase on Black Friday- should sound sci-fi AF!

That little Cylon Warrior better have a red LED strobing back and forth!

I have love-hate for Synthrotek —

There's a number of rack-synth stuff that I want to convert to pedalboard-friendly effects.
I've got the passive Ring Modulator and the Dirt Filter, which I plan to build together as one.

Hmm there are a few annoyances, but for example: Frustrated by the lack of a proper schematic for the Cosmic Echo, I've refused to buy one.
(Schematic provided doesn't include the mods... ...and come on, a 1590DD for the deluxe "Squared"? It's the same Freq'n PCBoard as the regular C-Echo!)

I know, I know — Ivory Tower problems...

The little guy sure does light up!

It's just a "pulse" rather than the back and forth, but I'm still amused.

I agree that it would be nice to see more schematics around there. Out of the handful of eurorack modules I've built from various vendors, none of them have shown a schematic, so it seems like there's less of an obligation to include them in the synth world, but there's no excuse for that Cosmic Echo fiasco. Your frustration is valid, my friend.

I forgot to include the vactrol I needed on my last smallbear order. Another 15 dollars shipping and handling later and here it is along with some more red clearance 125b and polished 1590bb to feel better about it.

Separately I received some clear dual lock from the lord of commerce and yet another @fig package of awesomeness. These are the replacement pic chips for the cowpoker/mountain oyster/electric ladyland projects. Thanks again for everything, Tim!

It’s more my email box than my mailbox but I finally got around to messing with the York IR packs I bought on BF. Literally woke up my DR patch on my Ampero 2 Stomp. The tones are unbelievable. It was already pretty good with the stick cabs but the IR pack really made a difference. Sounds as good as the videos of the Dream 65 (id still like to play one of those at some point).

Also made a Mesa amp patch with the Mesa OS-V2 4x12. The model for the Mark IV sounds excellent and again the York IR kills it. Also huge shout out to Ampero 2 Stomp for their amp models. Just crazy good.

I love the York audio IRs. I don't bother even trying any of my old ownhammers and never look for new ones anymore. They're really fantastic.
