Epiphone Coronet, my first foray into the Gibson world. I wanted a guitar with the least amount of things in it so I can just play. Strats and Jazzmasters have way too much stuff in the way and I end up playing those instead of music.
QC is awesome compared to Fender/Squier, for a mere 350 Euros. The bridge was super high but now the action is what it's supposed to be. Probably the most effortless playing guitar I've ever had.
High gear tuners, great fret ends, rolled fretboard edges, CTS pots, the nut is not perfect but luckily the nut slots are shallow so I can lower them. They're cut wide enough already and it stays in tune with bends. The screws don't strip, a major issue I have with cheap guitars.
The only issues are minor: 1) darker than I thought in most lights; 2) the pickup is too low, the hum is loud, the output isn't. Need to order shims but I guess hum will also increase; 3) Unbelievable neck dive with a strap since the button is under the last fret. Will relocate it to the upper horn, though I don't think it'll make much of a difference; Does it? 4) some static when I touch the body and plastic.
We'll see if I can live with the hum. I guess there are hum cancelling options out there. I also have super cheap Chinese cream pikcup covers coming just for giggles.
