Neil Peart was my role model and idol growing up. When he passed it was like losing my dad. Hearing Alex and Geddy talk about playing their old songs without Neil is so bittersweet. I wish the "tour" had more shows - the NYC date is closest to me and that's not gonna be fun

For a long time I thought A Tribute to Kings would be the closest I’d get to seeing rush. You KNOW I’ll do anything to be at one (hopefully both) of the NYC shows.

As someone who took quite a lot of jokes about the Oasis reunion I hope you guys have as much fun at these shows as I did seeing Oasis. Now back to my room

I gotta think if Ged and Alex think she's capable of pulling off Peart's spirit she must kill.
They're talking about going out with keys and another guitar as well so this could be pretty interesting. I don't have a problem with it at all, given that it's not REALLY Rush. I'd like to see the guys have fun out there.
I suspect there's no way I can get/afford tix.

I have mixed feelings. I'm all for bands continuing as long as they can, and Anika is a more than capable drummer (I'm primarily a drummer, so I already knew who she was), but that's not really what it's about. Anyone, even Neil Peart, can be replaced musically. But it feels weird when someone whose personality was such a core part of the identity of a band passes, it's never going to be the same band anymore.
I felt the same way when Taylor Hawkins passed. There are plenty of drummers out there "good enough" to fill the role, but Dave Grohl had said for years that Taylor was like his brother, and if he was gone then the Foo Fighters would be finished. So when he kept going immediately with a new drummer it felt shitty to me.
Again, I'm not saying they should stop playing because they lost their drummer, but it just feels weird to continue being Rush and playing the same songs when such a big part of who the band was is gone.

When I was in high school a boy who was trying to win my favor through music made me a mix tape that he swore spoke truly to his soul, spirit, and deepest feelings. It was a 120 minute cassette filled with NOTHING but Rush until the last 5 minutes. Which contained Marvin Gaye's Let's Get It On.
