Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

Did you use a known name when you ordered it?

Known name? Yes. My name? No. I don't think they're shipping until April/May anyway.

Funny story, since you brought it up.... A couple years ago I bought a PastFX pedal on Reverb, from PastFX.

Immediately got a private message "Are you Robert from PedalPCB?" ... (from Verle? I believe)

Basically letting me know there was no warranty if I broke it trying to trace it.

We talked for a short bit, I assured that wasn't my intentions (it really wasn't), but I fully expected the order to be cancelled/refunded.... but it wasn't. It shipped.

I was CERTAIN the pedal would be sanded to hell and gooped, but it wasn't.

As promised though, I did not trace it. I really only bought it to compare noise levels to a project offered here.

I thought that was pretty cool though, a lot of folks would have cancelled the order.

I still have the Tim Tam..... ( I have trust issues and you ain't taking me out with a piece of chocolate. ) :ROFLMAO:

If I ever started a pedal company I would make two versions of my pedals - a normal version and a special version, with extra bits all the epoxy and spray paint. Maybe concrete too depending on its insulating properties.
Anyone called Robert woild get that version

Correction to what I said yesterday... I do not believe the transistors were sanded after all. I think maybe the primer etched the face of the transistor slightly and made the part number harder to see.

I don't know how you went so long without eating a Tim Tam! I would have risked the imminent death..

I'm not huge on candy, I have my moments, but the truth is I kinda just set it up there and forgot about it. :ROFLMAO:

I wonder if anyone has ever gooped a circuit with chocolate. (?)

Actually yes, but unintentionally. A friend in the UK shipped me some pedals a few years back, along with a bunch of candy for my son...

By the time it arrived here some of the chocolate had come open in the box and covered a couple of the pedals.

Now, have you heard of this thing called "build docs"?...

Nice way to kill the thread. :ROFLMAO:

Any build doc in particular? (No ring mod)

Wait, they're not shipping yet, then how did you get hold of one? Have you reached the level where you just non-nonchalantly wander in to builders homes at this point, take a pedal, shrug and go "It was always going to end this way..." 😜.

Verlie, she's one of the good ones, honestly she was probably less concerned with you offering PCB's than with imposter syndrome over her designs in a male dominated industry... won't even show me them!

Tim Tam's (or occasionally a Picnic bar) are included with every order! Just ignore those syringe shaped holes in the package and think of the lovely chocolate inside, it's delicious... 😬

Actually, don't tell her I told you, but personally I think the UK penguin bars they're based on are better than the Aussie Tim Tam's 🤫

Well, they're obviously shipping to someone.... I'm not sure how all of this stuff works.

The concern seemed to be that I might break it and demand a refund or repair. Apparently someone else had done that in the past, made a mess of it, and since it's Reverb I suppose they usually side with the buyer.

On second thought, let's go with my intense masculinity being the issue. 💪

I did learn a valuable lesson from that exchange... Reverb (at least at the time) reveals the email address associated with the PayPal account used to make the purchase if there are any international currency conversions taking place. Busted! :ROFLMAO:

Oh how ironic would it be to find out you'd bought a hastily released heavily gooped clone.

That must be it  lifting all those spools of 63/37 will do that to a man, entire kilo's of pure, somewhat adulterated lead.

🤣 Do you reckon you'd been caught out before and not cottoned on?

You have friends?

She is. I’ve got her moogerfooger mf101 clone - which is excellent - and the first batch had a bug with the dreaded led switching noise bleeding into audio (which I’ve had a lot with diy pedals) - chatted to her a fair bit firstly saying there was this bug and then gently suggesting if she told me how I could solder enough to fix it myself and save shipping to around the world for a 5 min fix.
Exceptional pedal, great builder worth buying pastfx stuff!
