Pedal builders REACT to this guy finally cracking the Spirit In The Sky fuzz

I purposely offset the toggle switches to 0.8" spacing (like a 5 and 6 knob pedal).

It just looks less cramped and allows for larger knobs.

So it uses the bias knob to drop the voltage to the tranny and that produces the custom farts?
That's the "Sustain" pot.

"Bias" is exactly what it sounds like, it adjusts the bias (similar to the pot in the Fancy Fuzz you posted). The original just refers to it as "the knob", oddly enough.

It doesn't have the traditional Boss Tone "Attack" control.

Dialing in the farts is a balancing act between Sustain and Bias. @andare mentioned the demo video sounded "too gainy", you can correct that by turning down the Sustain and then readjusting the Bias to get that broken gated sound.

Oh how ironic would it be to find out you'd bought a hastily released heavily gooped clone.

So look, did I ever mention that I have a problem? ...

I pre-ordered one shortly after this thread popped up... then I got impatient... so yeah, I'll end up with two.

We'll see if the second one (technically the first, I suppose?) is the same.

We can A/B them and see if the goop really is the secret.

That's a nice consideration. I built two Paupers over the summer, the first of which I drilled to line up with the board allocations for pots/switch. Then I realized I couldn't fit three big MXR knobs so I had to use a small one for the tone control (pour one out). On the second build I bent the pots' legs over and located the PCB over to the side of the enclosure so I could fit the toggle switch more like in the second template you posted, so I could fit the big tone knob. But it turns out I liked how the small one looked anyway. Go figure

It also leaves more room for labels. Which I didn't do on this one

What about having the toggle below the center knob?

Or, I made a Soup Grape Fuzz a while back that placed the toggle in between the two upper pots. It's maybe a little cramped, but even with the 1" MXR knobs I used, it fits nicely without getting in the way

I have a Lafayette Reverb unit(Japanese made I believe) that got installed into a Harmony 415H and when running thru the reverb unit it can get a pretty similar sound to the Spirit of the Sky. There is maybe 4 transistors in there, very mediocre reverb:confused: tho.

I cringe when I see my old layouts with the toggle between the upper knobs.
We are grateful to inherit your learnings. :)

Though people can suck a BoD for an offset toggle switch. I don't know how you can mix 4 and 6 knob standards like that. Dirty.
