Angine de Poitrine

Yeah, I have a pretty large swathe of various art/cultural stuff that falls into my “I’m sincerely glad someone is out there stickin’ it to the squares, but I don’t necessarily need to watch/listen to/look at/etc. it more than once” category.

I think this is one of those.

I'd think "ew feet" but one of my fave players was Roger Fisher with Heart and it was sort of his trademark. This is definitely not in my wheelhouse and it sort of reminds me of the corporate rock days of the 80's in concept but I'm also an old curmudgeon.

Hey, if it works and makes money run with it. Nothing else in the traditional music biz does.

At least 4 people have texted me a link to their KEXP performance so I’m obviously in the target demographic but I frickin love this kind of shit. The gimmick is fun as hell and I legitimately really dig the music. The disorienting and interlocking parts tickle my brain in a delightful way and I’m a huge sucker for songs that reuse tricksy parts in multiple contexts to create new ideas.

It means they’re doing something right. If there’s no negative comments, it means no one gives a shit. I mean, this band has its own thread on a pedal forum
To be honest, I don't think it's just that. I don't care for the band or that style of music too much, and I've seen them at least 10 times before online - obviously due to their act and look. That is the kind of thing that easily irks a lot of people and leads to the "gimmick" complaints.

I know there's people who like microtonal jazz rock or whatever it would be classed as, but I don't think there's that many of them. So it feels weird, and almost manufactured - but to be honest, I don't think it is, it's just that their gimmick works very well.

(for the record, I don't think the gimmick is a bad thing at all - to break through these days I think every band should have some kind of a gimmick or story, it's just what it is)

I think the discussion about the unmasking of Banksy is interesting. Does it influence the value of his work.
Not at all IMO unless we find out more about him, never-meet-your-heroes style.

These two dildos will simply come up with another gimmick or ditch the costumes and look normal in their next project.

If you're going to do something that is not going to last, it's a good idea not to reveal your identity so you can keep doing different stuff without being remembered.

What if one of them is the surviving member of Milli Vanilli who became a chopster after his disgrace?

I think Daft Punk, Residents, Banksy will be remembered. I see this as a whole; performance art.
