@Robert - thanks, I sure didn't see that little SMD inductor!! So I am guessing that the toroidal choke in the original is for removing high frequencies from the 9V supply. Wow, that looks like Strymon does a very fancy build - high quality pots, what looks to be a relay, etc. Anyway, again many thanks!

ps: Mouser has a TDK 680µH inductor, part # B82141A1684J000, that works as well.
 
Shocked to see how little fetches such a high price tag, but it's also not that surprising.

I see what appears to be a 1S1588, but that other white/black diode is the same glass diode they've used in the SOV-2 and others that (to my knowledge) hasn't really been identified yet by the DIY community. Did you happen to throw it on your meter to check its characteristics? I'm curious...

Nah, this isn't the sockets fault, it's stupid builders that are bad......... :rolleyes:

Oh yeah, I wasn't blaming the socket.

I don't think it would have made it here without falling out if had been a machined socket.


After seating/reseating though I will say, the IC was secure. I can't get it to seat completely flush but it's definitely not going to fall out. This at least appears to be a higher quality socket than I typically use.
