This is why I recommend staying away from using trademarked names, logos, styles, etc in DIY builds, even as innocent as it may seem at the time.

Years ago (way back before PedalPCB was even remotely a thing) I built a pedal for myself. This was one of my first pedal builds... It was a clone, and I did use the name of the original in the artwork. It wasn't cosmetically a clone, the styling was a bit of a novelty in itself, but it wasn't like any variation of the original. It was for me personally, I had no intentions of tricking anyone, or creating counterfeits.... No harm done.

A friend saw it, really wanted it, and somehow he ended up with it. A couple years passed and he decided to move some gear, which included that pedal. It was listed on Reverb, the IP owners saw it, had it removed, and contacted me with some nasty legal threats.

Lesson learned. Stay away from trademarks.

I learned that if you paint horse penises and monsters there is nothing anybody can do. Can you trademark a dong?

Also if you never sell anything and hoard pedals you get the inner satisfaction knowing your wife has to deal with it when you kick the bucket.

I think that is the real reason she asks if I am building another pedal.

I'm still a little fuzzy on this... So in this forum we're not allowed to factor y our humble home-built pedals weren't made in a factory? 'Cause someone thinks they've got the rights to a common word — that's fuzzy logic at best, from a megalomaniac at worst.

Hmmph. That iz vexing, Mr PedalPCB, rather so.

It's almost as irritational as Gibb's son making toy guitars and selling them at asstrholecomical priceless... princess... prizes... pisces... — whut theys costs.

I am SO VERY GLAD those guitars weren't donated to some foundation benefitting underprivileged kids. Damn kids would've just stripped 'm for parts to sell and use the money for drugs, blackjack and hookers.

PS: Promote the genius who came up with the idea, he's got a great track record thus far, put him/her on the Gibson label...

PPS: re article about Gibson Label: Somebody tell Forbes that the company needs a copy-editor and proofreader for the company's web-content. Just 'cause it's on the web doesn't mean Forbes should relax its stringent high-standards of quality information insemination, ehr dissemination... dispersal.

My garage has been known as the Fart Factory. Hopefully I don't get sued over it.
 
Not sure if it’s been covered, but the reason the guitars were destroyed was because they were all faulty in some way. The returns rate on this guitar were huge and they essentially couldn’t fix them. They were destroyed for insurance purposes so Gibson could claim back their loses.

I would think a better solution would have been to make them as playable as possible, but from a business perspective the roi isn’t very good when you make more running them over with an excavator, than refurbishing

I don't care how poorly they were made, there had to be some salvageable parts; there's something rotten in the state of dumb-Marque when Insurance policies and the people behind them fail to follow through with common sense.

They better start crushing the rest of the Gibson guitars as they have faults that Gibson wont fix either!!!
 
Heard through the grapevine that a certain guitar manufacturer is bringing back a certain pedal line... could be related!

This is what I was thinking. It’s a shame though, as they will be forced down everyone’s throats (like the Fender Acoustic JM thing), and even if they are pretty good, the bad taste is already in the mouth of most.
 
Hmm. Does Gibson make individual pedals, or do they make one digital platform with different programs and artwork for each design?

Why do Gibson headstocks break? — Haze Guitars

There's a big chunk of my income that comes from repairing broken necks and headstocks. And, by far the biggest chunk of that comes from repairing the broken necks and headstocks of Gibson guitars. So what is it that makes Gibsons more prone to lose their heads?

Gibson can correct this simply by using a Scarf joint, Dovetail joint just like nearly every other every other Manufacturer uses that don't break!!!.
Gibson claims they don't do it because it effects the resonance, sustain!!!
If that is the case, they better stop making their guitars with glued neck to body joints either!!!

I am a bit late noticing this. I was just looking at the pcbguitarmania project for the Maestro Stage Phaser. This is based off that right? I am wondering how it sounds compared to the Mu-tron II.

Gibson has taken out a claim against this company for it's use of the Font used being too similar to the Maestro font owned by Gibson.

Yeah, that part doesn't really interest me. Gibson has a history of being dickheads and being aggressive with their lawyers.

I am more interested in how close this one is to the original stage phaser. The demos of the mister O sound pretty good. I just ordered a Master Phaser pcb from pcbguitarmania since there is no version here...

Three completely different phasers:
A) Maestro PS-1A is a 6-stage JFET phaser with a true sine wave LFO
B) The Mr. O is a digital emulation of the Maestro PS-1A
C) The Master Phaser is a Maestro stage phaser, which is a 4-stage phaser that uses OTA chips
